It’s finally happening! Samsung first announced its Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx-based Galaxy Book S way back in August 2019 at the Galaxy Note 10 event, and it was truly an impressive beast. But months went by without another word from Samsung on the machine; that is until now. Samsung has finally opened up preorders for the Galaxy Book S, and

The World Health Organization announced today, January 30, that the outbreak of respiratory disease from the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in China constitutes a “Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).”
PHEICs are declared in extraordinary situations, such as when public health is threatened by an infectious disease that could spread internationally and requires international responses and collaboration to address. The declaration prompts additional international support efforts and releases financial resources.
In a press conference today, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus (who goes by Dr. Tedros) praised China for its response efforts to the outbreak so far. The country’s efforts and commitment to transparency is “very impressive,” he said.

Overwatch Is Making Big Changes To Keep The Meta 'Fluid'

By this point, I would imagine that Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan is sick of talking about the meta. It’s a perennial topic among vocal portions of the Overwatch community and a near-constant source of consternation. The meta over-prioritizes certain heroes, say some people. It changes too slowly, say others, asking…

What to Do If Your Kid Hates Crust

My son, like many children, has had an ongoing love-hate relationship with bread crust. More emphasis on the hate, though, especially recently. When he was a toddler, I avoided them completely by making his sandwiches on “sandwich thins.” But that only worked if I was able to find the variety that didn’t have any…

Avast shutters data-selling subsidiary amid user outrage

One of the world’s largest antivirus providers is ending a program that collected and sold users’ Web browsing data a few days after media reports exposed the platform.
Avast CEO Ondrej Vlcek announced late Thursday the end of the data-selling subsidiary, known as Jumpshot. Writing in an open letter, he said that he and the company’s board “have decided to terminate the Jumpshot data collection and wind down Jumpshot’s operations, with immediate effect.”
The pervasive operations of Jumpshot came to light earlier this week following reporting by Vice Motherboard and PCMag. Jumpshot described itself as “the only company that unlocks walled garden data… to provide marketers with unparalleled visibility, analytical insights and a more comprehensive understanding of the online customer journey that delivers a highly competitive advantage.”

Apple Rolls Out Maps Redesign To All US Users
Apple’s
redesigned Maps app has arrived. From a report: The company on Thursday said its revamped app is now available for US users and will arrive in Europe “in the coming months.” Apple Maps’ redesign makes navigation faster and more accurate and gives users “comprehensive views of roads, buildings, parks, airports, malls and more.” Apple rebuilt its mapping service from the ground up by outfitting hundreds of planes and cars with custom sensors and lidar, which then covered over 4 million miles. It hopes the latest iteration of its Apple Maps software will be enough to woo users away from Google Maps, Waze and other rivals.
“We set out to create the best and most private maps app on the planet that is reflective of how people explore the world today,” Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of internet software and services, said in a press release. “It is an effort we are deeply invested in and required that we rebuild the map from the ground up to reimagine how Maps enhances people’s lives — from navigating to work or school or planning an important vacation — all with privacy at its core.” Along with the new Maps apps, real-time transit will be available in Miami starting Friday, in time for the upcoming Super Bowl.

EKWB Releases New Closed-Loop EK-AIO Cooling Systems w/RGB
Historically, EKWB has been best known for its custom, open-loop liquid cooling systems designed for experienced enthusiasts. But as closed-loop factory-assembled cooling systems are increasingly popular among many DIYers, EKWB has also previously branched out into its modular EK-MLC Phoenix coolers, which combine ease-of-assembly and ability to customize them. Now, to cater to even more mainstream audience that tends to use prêt-à-porter coolers, EKWB is unveiling a new lineup of all-in-one coolers, the EK-AIO family.
EKWB’s EK-AIO lineup of liquid coolers that require no assembly or maintenance consists of three models: the EK-AIO 120 D-RGB, EK-AIO 240 D-RGB, and EK-AIO 360 D-RGB. The cooling systems use a water block featuring an SPC- style pump as well as a copper cold plate. As the names of the coolers suggest, the devices come with either a 120-mm radiator with one EK Vardar fan, a 240-mm radiator with two fans, or as a 360-mm radiator with three fans. The radiators have 12 channels to maximize cooling efficiency and are 28 mm thick to be compatible with the vast majority of modern PC cases.
In line with modern trends, EKWB’s EK-AIO family of coolers are lit with addressable RGB LEDs that can be controlled using software from leading motherboards makers. The LEDs are located inside the water block and under the motor hub of fans creating rather interesting effects.
As far as compatibility is concerned, EKWB’s EK-AIO come with mounting kits supporting modern AMD’s AM4 and similar sockets (so, no sTR4) and Intel’s LGA1155 as well as LGA2066.
EKWB’s closed-loop EK-AIO 120 D-RGB, EK-AIO 240 D-RGB, and EK-AIO 360 D-RGB coolers will be available starting February 28. The cheapest model with a 120-mm radiator is priced at €74.9, the mid-range SKU costs €124.9, whereas the highest-end flavor with a 360-mm radiator and three fans carries an MSRP of €149.9. All units are covered with a five-year warranty.

A lot of restaurants bring out bread “for the table,” but most of those restaurants do not bring enough butter for the amount of bread that is brought.
