Google Reveals What N In Android N Stands For — Nougat

We finally know what N in Android N stands for: Nougat. Google made the announcement on Thursday. The Android maker always names smartphone operating system updates after candies and other sweet treats. The past few versions, for instances, are named Marshmallow, Eclair, Lollipop, and Marshmallow. Naming aside, Android N brings with it a range of interesting features such as multi-window support, better battery efficiency, and the ability to reply to messages straight from the notification. Enthusiasts who own a Nexus 6 or a newer Nexus device, can give a whirl to the preview of Android N on their device. The final version of Android N will be made available later this year.

20 Years Later, Few Nintendo Games Have Lived Up To Super Mario RPG

Squirreled away in a secret room within Monstro Town, a cliffside hamlet in Super Mario RPG, there’s a purple-skinned warrior named Culex. You can go the whole game without ever meeting this man; finding him requires you to backtrack to an earlier town, purchase a pricey set of fireworks, and trade it to an NPC for a crystal that opens the door to his lair. Once you do find the enigmatic knight, he challenges you to a duel. Accept the offer and you’ll have to face down a boss more challenging than any other in the game.

As counterfeiters get better and better at faking expensive Swiss watches, the watchmakers themselves now have a new tool to help distinguish their genuine creations from fakes: nanoscopic watermarks that are invisible to the naked human eye, and impossible to fake.

Android N’s official name is Nougat

Google has finally taken the wraps off of the sugary snack-themed codename for Android N: “Nougat.” Google also showed off its new statue design today, which features a green Android mascot standing atop three bars of the chewy confection.

Android Nougat (that’s going to take some getting used to) will be the final version of the N developer preview, which has been with us since March. The final release will come sometime during the third quarter of this year. Nougat will bring a redesigned notification panel, support for side-by-side apps, VR enhancements, and a ton of other improvements.

Amazon's Prime Day Returns July 12th

In case you haven’t heard, Amazon is going to give that whole Amazon Prime Day a shot again this year. Last year was a bit of a cluster with all those $100 40″ HDTVs selling out in a matter of seconds so you should probably get ready ahead of time this year if you want to get in on the really good deals.

Apple Wins Patent On Technology That Blocks Your Phone Camera

Apple was just granted a patent on technology that disables the photo and video recording capabilities of your iPhone using an infrared signal. Oddly enough, the patent image below shows a diagram of how your phone would be blocked from “illegally” recording at a concert. Since when was that illegal? Thanks to Graeme Thomson for the link.
