The PS4 has been the best selling console of this generation, but the folks over at the NPD group are predicting the Switch is going to take that crown this year. Yes, God of War and other Sony exclusives are moving consoles, however, Nintendo has a nice stable of games for the Switch that are turning the tide. That little Switch really is the engine that could if NPD is correct. I wonder how many hardcore Sony fans have grabbed a Switch to go along with their PS4?
Driven by the launches of Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!, Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee! and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Nintendo Switch will be the best-selling console of the fourth quarter in unit sales, while also elevating the platform to be the best-selling console of the year.

The collectability of Nintendo’s “classic mini” consoles cannot be overstated. Even after restocking the NES Classic Edition’s original, limited supply this year, the company has barely been able to keep up with demand for both its NES– and SNES-flavored dips back into the nostalgia pool, in the West or elsewhere.
But if you thought those systems were limited and coveted enough, you ain’t seen nothing. This week, Nintendo went one further by releasing a special-colored, new-games version of one of these systems, designed and marketed specifically for fans of Japanese Shonen Jump manga series like Dragon Ball, Captain Tsubasa, and Fist of the North Star.
Shortly before Amazon Japan sold out of its allocation on Sunday morning, we slammed down $87 USD and placed an order to see what the Shonen Jump 50th Anniversary Famicom Classic Mini was all about. We quickly learned that this official Nintendo product is far from a slapdash release with a logo painted on.

More than 30 months after surfacing, a tech-support scam targeting Dell computer owners continues to raise questions about how the callers know sensitive information, including PC serial numbers and the names, phone numbers, and email addresses customers gave to the PC maker.
Most tech-support scams are opportunistic. A caller falsely claims she’s calling from Microsoft to warn of a serious, non-existent problem with a person’s Windows computer, even when the person happens to own only a Mac. The goal of the call is to trick the mark into purchasing software or technical support to fix the issue or to install software that gives the caller remote control over the computer. These types of rackets have been targeting owners of Windows computers from a variety of sellers for years.
A scam targeting Dell customers, by contrast, uses sensitive details tied to their specific PC purchase, including the PC model, service tag number, and the contact information the customers provided at the time they made the purchase. Armed with those details, the caller has a much better chance of tricking the person into thinking the call is legitimate and, from there, ceding control of the computer or coughing up hundreds of dollars in fraudulent support costs.

From a story on Digg, via DaringFireball: Magic Leap, the secretive augmented reality company that has raised $2.3 billion, finally demoed its long-rumored, much-vaunted headset on Wednesday (and announced that the headset will ship this summer). It was disappointing. Magic Leap has promised big things — remember the tiny elephant in your hands? Remember that whale jumping out of the gym floor? But the animations demonstrated on Wednesday fall short of those promises. Waaaay short. An executive with Magic Leap, which has long remained tight lipped on its roadmap and commercial availability of its products, said on a Twitch livestream this week that the Magic Leap One, a developer-geared headset, will ship this season. (Summer ends September 22, so the company has 10 weeks to meet its self-imposed deadline.)

If you’re going to buy a luxury SUV, why not buy it from the company that has been manufacturing them for six decades or so? That’s the value proposition behind the insanely expensive $360,000 Range Rover SV Coupe we encountered last month. And the same can be said about the rest of the Range Rover lineup. We know what we’re doing, we know what you want in a luxury SUV, so why bother looking at any of the johnny-come-latelies? I’m no ad man, but if were writing ad copy for Jaguar Land Rover, that’s probably where I’d start.
That’s the vibe the Range Rover Sport gives off—quiet, luxurious confidence. For the 2018 model year, the Range Rover Sport takes what Land Rover does well and puts another level of spit and polish on it. The result: a solid but unspectacular ride for those with an itch for a midsize SUV and $70,000+ to spend.
The Range Rover Sport sits near the top of the Land Rover’s US lineup, above the Discovery, Velar, and Evoque. Pricing starts at $66,750 for the Range Rover Sport SE, which has a supercharged 3.0L V6 power plant capable of 340hp (253kW). Looking for more power? You can get a supercharged V8 that can crank out up to 575hp. The model we tested is the Range Rover Sport HSE TD6, which has a turbocharged V6 diesel that puts out 254hp (189kW) and an impressive 440lb-ft (597Nm) of torque—an impressive number that speaks to Land Rover’s roots making vehicles for serious off-roading. The diesel engine uses diesel exhaust fluid, which is injected into the exhaust to reduce NOx emissions.
