Russian Cats Banned By International Body Following Ukraine Invasion

Little russian blue kitty on the stairs

The Federation Internationale Feline (FIFe) has imposed a ban on Russian cats from March 1. The ban is a way of condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

FIFe often refers to itself as the ‘United Nations of Cat Federations’.

The ban applies to any cat owned by a Russian who is registered in a pedigree book outside of Russia, regardless of which organisation issued its pedigree.

Restrictions are valid until May 31.

Russian forces invaded Ukraine by land, air, and sea on February 24 in the biggest attack by one state against another in Europe since World War Two.

Call to Ban All Russia Transactions Resisted by Crypto Exchange Boss

Chief executive and founder of Binance, Changpeng Zhao, said the company was ‘not in a position to sanction, like, populations of people.’

He said: “There are a few hundred individuals that are on the international sanctions list in Russia, mostly politicians, and we follow that very, very strictly.

Cryptocurrency exchanges have been coming under pressure to comply with western sanctions, by blocking transactions with Russia. There are fears that crypto could allow the Kremlin to bypass restrictions designed to cut it off from the international banking system.

The UK, EU, US and Canada moved at the weekend to expel Russian banks from Swift, the main global payments messaging system used by banks, and also sought to prevent Russia’s central bank from using its foreign currency reserves. Some now fear that the Russian government and its banks could aim to use crypto as a backdoor, as an alternative measure of international exchange to the dollar.

But Zhao said he did not believe that cryptocurrencies – which are held on a decentralised ledger – would enable people to dodge sanctions.

Russia wants list of weapons that can never be deployed in Ukraine

Global News

Russia is demanding Ukraine demilitarize and write a list of weapons the nation cannot possess. The news comes amid a second round of talks between Russia and Ukraine on Wednesday.

Russia is reportedly demanding the recognition of two breakaway regions in eastern Ukraine and also will also not give up the Crimean Peninsula.

More than 100 diplomats at a U.N. conference in Geneva walked out on a speech from Lavrov, who accused Ukraine of human rights violations against Russian minorities.

Russia launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine last week and on Wednesday claimed to have taken control of the first major city in the country, Kherson, which Ukrainian officials dispute. Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is pressing for a ceasefire and a withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine during the talks, according to Al Jazeera.

Why The Ukraine War Is Likely to Revolutionize Weapons Development

Massive fire explosion close up in military combat and war

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has made one thing very clear: The weapons designed for fighting away from cities aren’t suitable for fighting in them. Tanks and armored personnel carriers are relatively easy targets. You can even strike them from below by using the in-street access and timing the removal of manhole covers. Even defending the city isn’t ideal as you’d want to be able to use weapons that can fire indirectly and still be easily used by civilians so that their source isn’t obvious for counterattack and you can use the manpower you have. While defending a city appears to be vastly easier than taking one, concerns about friendly fire events suggest that weapons that are more focused on taking combatants out of the fight, even for a short time, instead of killing them would be preferable. This is to avoid the problem of catastrophic friendly fire and in order to avoid making the conflict more personal not to mention avoid war crimes. Granted, not attacking cities in the first place would be ideal, but we can’t now deny that bad actors won’t attack cities.

Let’s talk about how the war in Ukraine is likely to change thinking on both offensive and defensive weaponry.

Open ground vs. urban combat

In the movie Stripes, the military develops and deploys an Urban Assault Vehicle which turns out to be a GMC motorhome that has been converted into a hardened weapons platform. The advantage is that the vehicle looks unthreatening and can more easily navigate city streets and its weapons loadout is largely anti-personnel and relatively short-range in sharp contrast to an actual tank. While we’re talking about a movie, the reality that is clearly being painfully demonstrated by the Russians is that in cities, weapons designed for combat away from cities are sharply limited.

Tanks are particularly vulnerable (there have been efforts to develop urban tanks with mixed results) if they don’t have an infantry screen that can keep low-tech anti-tank weapons at bay. Attackers can, if they get close enough with explosives, disable a tank by blowing off its tracks and damaging the drivetrain. But infantry screening a tank in a city makes them easy targets, leaving the expensive tank exposed and vulnerable.

Russia’s massive superiority in weaponry seems to have done more damage to Russia so far by triggering massive sanctions and, most recently, war crimes investigations resulting from its actions. Russia needed to move swiftly to secure Ukrainian cities before the world could respond but that weapons advantage turned out to be a huge disadvantage when used against cities.

Civilian deaths and injuries, particularly children, and tremendous collateral damage will, win or lose, be a terrible expense for Russia to bear both financially and criminally. The world is watching this mess and as despicable as Russia’s actions are, it is clear its weapons are inadequate to the task and every country may have to attack or defend a city at some point, opening the door for innovation in urban warfare.

What is needed

Top of the list? Either the offensive or defensive elements need eyes that extend over the contested areas. This can be most easily handled by drones, but commercial grade flying drones are easily dispatched and military drones are very expensive. However, drone swarms using inexpensive cameras and deployed at scale could accomplish this task relatively inexpensively as long as the solution includes a way to retrieve and recharge the drones as needed from an armored mobile depot.

Non-lethal weapons would also be critical both to avoid friendly fire incidents from defenders and collateral damage by attackers. Killing civilians is unacceptable to the world at large (as it should be), and Russia is facing the potential for a total state failure as a result of massive sanctions that have all but shut the country down economically. If women and children weren’t being killed, the world response would likely be more survivable. Right now, Russia appears to be looking at a lose/lose outcome. It may outright fail in Ukraine, but it will have become a global pariah and their actions have largely turned most of the planet against the country. If Russia wins, it could bear the expense of rebuilding Ukraine and still have to face war crimes trials, continued strict sanctions, and a far more aggressively armed border.

There has already been a blending of police and military technology, but even before this war, analysts have been working on changing the rules when it comes to urban warfare. The eight rules in the inked article point out problems with both defending and attacking a city.  The urban defender has a huge advantage but tends to lack any ability to counter-strike, as well as lack advanced weapons.  The attacker’s technology is largely rendered ineffective because of the tight spaces and inability to use air defenses to identify and respond to defenders. The attacker has limited cover, providing the defender with additional advantages. Every building is a bunker which helps repel any attack, but also makes it hard for defenders to repel the attackers. Only explosives work well, but this increases collateral damage to unacceptable levels for both the attackers and the defenders. The defenders have the advantage of movement but often lack the ability to better coordinate that movement. The underground of the city can become a refuge for either the attacker or the defender, significantly extending the length of the conflict and the potential for collateral damage. Neither side can concentrate its resources for a definitive victory which again extends both the conflict and the collateral damage.

Wrapping up:

Urban Warfare is ill-advised. Existing weapons for both defense and offense are inadequate for the task, though the advantages the defenders enjoy are in sharp contrast to the problems the Russian attack forces are experiencing. Some of those problems appear to be due to incompetence, which may be intentional by Russian operators siding with the Ukraine and secretly revolting (it is hard to imagine the Russian military being so incredibly incompetent given its history).

This is going to force militaries to rethink their weapons programs, hopefully, prioritize urban defense over urban assault, but likely develop unique weapons for either eventuality. I’d expect a much more aggressive use of drones, better body armor, and smaller robotic weapons systems that could better function in urban environments, far more development on non-lethal weapons to reduce collateral damage, and an aggressive use of autonomous weapons at scale in urban form factors to assault more successfully or defend, urban areas. Because one thing is clear: the weapons in use by both Russia and the Ukraine are suboptimal for the kind of war they’re fighting.

It may be time to revisit Science Fiction Prototyping in the development of urban offensive and defensive weapons while we consider that the old policy of pacifying Russian didn’t work. Let’s hope China is realizing that if they attack Taiwan, they’ll regret it as much as the Russian leadership is likely regretting attacking Ukraine. And, with Taiwan, thanks to this action by Russia, I expect the response will be far more swift and painful.

I stand with Ukraine.

Is the United States the Best Spot for Your “IVF Holiday?”

travel-fertility-treatment-US

There’s no denying most infertility treatments are time-consuming and stressful experiences. Unfortunately, receiving these treatments is the only chance of starting a family for one-in-eight couples.

Given this fact, why would someone choose to ‘complicate’ their situation even more by leaving their home country and receiving assistance somewhere else?

Quality, price, and accessibility, for starters!

When someone is putting their heart and soul into a process, they want the best opportunities for success. Finding the most reputable options with an international network of fertility practices is a great place to start. In fact, an increasing number of hopeful parents are setting themselves up for “IVF holidays” in the United States.

Why the USA, you might ask?

There are several reasons this country has become the cream of the crop for alternative reproductive technologies (ART).

The Top 4 Reasons You Should Seek Fertility Treatments in the United States

In 2013, researchers surveyed the number of individuals who leave their home countries to seek healthcare services in other places. During this study, it was discovered that America had profited an extra $3.3 billion in medical tourism fees.

Of those who come to the United States for healthcare procedures, many are searching for trustworthy fertility solutions.

But why?

What sets America apart from so many other locations across the globe?

From costs to regulations, there are four primary reasons the United States is a top pick for IVF holidays.

1. More Affordable Treatment Costs

No matter where you go or where you live, infertility treatment is undeniably expensive – it’s no wonder cost is a significant contributing factor for people considering treatment in another country. While the average IVF cycle costs between $24,373 and $38,015 in the United States, this is much less expensive than in other areas.

Not only do overall treatments cost less, but American healthcare providers often offer their patients various financing options to accommodate varying financial needs.

2. Rigorous Medical Regulation and Standards

When someone longs to become a parent, they want nothing more than the best opportunities to overcome their infertility struggles. Regretfully, the “best” isn’t always available in their home country.

The United States prides itself on rigorous medical standards. If you’re in the market for fertility services, you can trust your American doctor will provide the high-quality options and care you want and need.

3. Largest Pools of Qualified Sperm and Egg Donor Candidates

One of the most outstanding features of the American infertility industry is the unmatched access to quality and trustworthy frozen sperm and egg donors.

Not only do reputable providers in the United States, such as Donor Egg Bank USA, offer large donor pools to select from, but each potential donor has also been thoroughly screened before being admitted into the donation programs.

This screening process includes but isn’t limited to:

  • General health screenings
  • Psychological examinations
  • Drug tests
  • Testing for genetic disorders
  • Background checks

By picking an American egg donor or sperm donor, you can feel confident you’re receiving the high-quality specimens you deserve and need for successful conception.

4. Lower Stress Levels

Between dozens of doctor’s appointments, rigorous medication protocols, and continual lab work, there’s nothing easy about fertility treatments. But what if there was a way to reduce some of the stress you experience throughout the process?

By scheduling an IVF holiday, you can do just that.

Setting up treatment in another country takes you away from the stressors of your day-to-day life. It eliminates the challenge of balancing work and procedures and allows you ample time to relax and practice self-care throughout the treatment process.

As stress can increase the amount of time it takes to get pregnant, this cannot only make you feel better about your experience but may increase its likelihood of success.

Will International Fertility Treatments Work for You?

While IVF holidays aren’t for everyone, it’s easy to see why so many people consider them.

As people dream of becoming parents and face the uphill battle of infertility, choosing the right path to success isn’t always clear-cut. However, one thing most hopeful parents agree on is their willingness to go above and beyond for the best opportunities available. For this reason, an ever-growing number of people pursue fertility treatment in the United States year after year.

Whether you’re looking to save money, cut down stress, or find a practitioner with improved regulations and options, the United States offers all the above. If you want to make the most of your fertility experience, booking a flight to America could be your top chance for success.

Google Maps Shuts Down Live Traffic Feature In Ukraine

Nordic walker with smartphone

Google has temporarily shut down Google Maps’ live traffic and “Area Busyness” features in Ukraine.

These features collect real-time location data from Android smartphones to show where traffic is being delayed and which businesses and restaurants are busy.

Google said the decision was made after consulting with Ukrainian authorities. It’s unclear whether Apple Maps has disabled access to this feature in the area.

In 2017, a heatmap developed by the fitness tracking app Strava accidentally exposed the location of several U.S. military bases in the Middle East.

Data-wiping Software Hits Hundreds of Ukraine Computers

worst-cybersecurity-habits-1

A newly discovered piece of destructive software found circulating in Ukraine has hit hundreds of computers, researchers say.

It is part of what Ukrainian officials said was an intensifying wave of hacks aimed at the country.

The data wiping program had been installed on hundreds of machines in the country, an attack it said had likely been in the works for the past couple of months.

The victims in Ukraine included a government agency and a financial institution, according to three people who studied the malware since its release.

Ukraine has suffered a drumbeat of digital assaults that Kyiv and others have blamed on Russia since 2014.

The Kremlin has denied any involvement in the attacks, but has repeatedly been accused of launching data-scrambling hacks against Ukraine and other countries.

How Thousands of Photographers Worldwide Earn Stable Income through Wirestock

smartphone photography

Gone are the days when photography was a profession reserved for those who were able to afford the most expensive and high-quality equipment. We now live in an age where you can easily utilize your smartphone to take beautiful photos of landscapes, people, or animals, and, if you’re able to find a decent app or platform, sell your work online and earn a stable income. Wirestock is one such platform.

Catering to both amateur and professional photographers, Wirestock is a platform that takes all the manual legwork out of the actual process of selling your visual content. Not only does the entire course of action become a matter of minutes, but the platform also provides a great opportunity for you to maximize your earnings; this is done through one-door access to the largest stock photo marketplaces (but more on that later). Bottom line, if you’re a photographer trying to follow in the footsteps of the success stories in the field, it’s time for you to start selling photos online with Wirestock.

Wirestock as a Tool for Modern Photographers

Keywording and Captioning Taken Off Your Hands

Photography as an artform is many things: fascinating, challenging, demanding, beautiful, and time-consuming. The latter part cannot be more true in this day in age, where the process of selling stock footage comes hand in hand with form-filling, keyword writing, and caption creation. Stock photo marketplaces like Shutterstock, Alamy, Adobe Stock, and Pond 5 all come with their own sets of rules and regulations, getting acquainted with which is enough to put a creator off monetizing their content online altogether. On top of that, picking the right marketplace for your photography is something you’d normally have to think about, resulting in the wrong choice ridding you of potential income.

Wirestock comes through for these creators, making the entire process mentioned above practically irrelevant. The way this platform operates makes it seamless for creators who do not know or do not have the time to learn all about marketplaces, keywords, and captions. Instead, Wirestock automates these steps for you—all you need to do is simply upload your work, select their “Easy Submission” option, and keywording and captioning are automatically taken off your hands.

One-Door Access to Stock Photography Marketplaces

Additionally, Wirestock makes it so you can distribute your content to all the major players in the stock photography game; all in a matter of seconds. After uploading your work, you have the opportunity of selecting famed stock photo marketplaces like Shutterstock, Alamy, Adobe Stock, Pond 5, and others, and letting Wirestock take care of all the rest. The platform distributes your work to all of these marketplaces, making your chances of selection (and the income that comes with it) significantly higher. Because why limit yourself to one channel?

Referral Fees

If you’re using Wirestock and want to spread the cheer, there is a way of doing so that comes with extra bucks in your pocket. Referring other contributors to the platform via your referral link (found on the dashboard page of your account) gives you 10% of the royalties they earn for an entire year. You can also check how many total creators have joined via your referral link and how much revenue you’ve generated as a result of that.

What Kind of Photography does Wirestock Favor?

No matter which lane of photography you’re in, you’ve undoubtedly noticed that the industry has moved from staged, posey-looking stock photos to more authentic content. Real people doing real things and reacting in their most authentic emotions is the content that is in right now. And Wirestock, like many other stock photography and videography platforms, also values authenticity.

But, as far as any specific niche goes, Wirestock is essentially anyone’s game. All you need to possess as a Wirestock creator is a unique eye for the beauty surrounding you, and a lens that wanders far and wide.

Do you Need to Invest in Expensive Equipment to Make Money on Wirestock?

Another issue modern-day photographers are commonly faced with is the ‘to buy or not to buy’ dilemma. Is it important to buy expensive equipment that by default ensures you get better quality, or is it better to save up money in the beginning of your photography career or business and think of it as more of a long-term goal? Whichever side of the spectrum you personally lie on the matter will not affect your Wirestock sales, however.

Wirestock urges anyone and everyone with a passion for photography and visual art to join their platform because authentic work can be created on both a smartphone and a fancy camera.

WiTricity’s Halo Next Generation Electric Car Wireless Charging

charging electric car

I drive a Jaguar I-Pace, Jaguar’s first electric car, and one of the most annoying parts of driving an electric car is charging it. Now, don’t get me wrong. With gas prices going up faster than Elon Musk’s ego, the fun of driving by gas stations and waving far exceeds the annoyance of charging in my garage or on the road, but it could be a ton easier.

WiTricity has been leading the charge to get rid of the charging cable and go to a wireless solution which could not only make charging at home less annoying it could allow you to charge while you are parked on the street or in a parking garage which has been problematic for owners of electric cars in cities.

Let’s talk about wireless charging and WiTricity’s new wireless charging solution this week.

The pain of charging

Most everything about driving an electric car is better than an ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) car except for two things: ranges and charging. My car will do 250 miles between charges, but my wife’s plug-in hybrid will go around 500 miles before needing to fill up with gas. In addition, on a long trip, I need to look for chargers, deal with jerks who park their F150s in charger spots, deal with broken chargers and charger cables, deal with the lack of consistency between charging station transactions, and the latest water-cooled cables, which are heavy and stiff, making plugging in the car on the road an exercise in aggravation.

You can use fast chargers, but they cook your battery which costs around a $10K to replace, or you can use a slower, Level 2 charger and wait around 12 hours for the car to be completely charged.  Finally, even with fast charging, the car will only charge to around 80% before stepping down the charging rate to protect the battery. So, even with a fast charger, it is rare to get out of the charging station in less than an hour.

Finally, in winter, everything is not only icy cold to the touch, but the cables also get even stiffer and there is nothing like battling a charging cord while standing in a blizzard when you’re trying to get home to put you off electric cars.

Wireless advantage

WiTricity uses magnetic resonance charging which allows you to put the charging mat permanently on the floor or buried in it.  The charging speed is like with the Level 2 charger that you’d buy for your garage, so it is limited to 35-40 miles per hour. But it is hard-wired and attached to the ground and looks like a thick rubber mat with a cord sticking out of it.

If you put this in a carport, garage, parking garage, parking space, or in a drive-in movie theater (OK not many of those left but given the pandemic, I’m thinking maybe we should bring them back), you’ll have a decent charge when you next need your car.

The experience is that the dashboard display helps guide you over the pad and tells you when you are ready to charge, the financial transaction can be handled automatically or from the car’s internal screen (no more getting out in bad weather to plug the darn thing in), and once started, you can lock and leave your car to charge for however long it is there. No worry about someone trying to yank the cable out, no more standing out in freezing temps as you try to figure out why the charging station won’t take your credit card, and no more messing with the charging cable.  Oh, and no more getting into your car in the morning to find you’d forgotten to plug the electric car in.

This is the way electric cars should be.

Wrapping up:

Electric cars are superior to ICE cars in acceleration, climbing, traction, operating cost and sustainability. Where they lag is in power access and storage. The car’s massive battery is its Achilles heel in that it typically can’t hold long enough, takes a long time to charge, and makes up a high percentage of the electric car’s weight. But if you can build charging so that the car charges whenever it is parked much of this problem goes away. That is what WiTricity announced with Halo, a wireless charging solution that mitigates much of the annoyances of today’s battery technology and sets up for a time when a battery breakthrough could significantly improve the overall electric car experience.  Nice job WiTricity, and a big thanks to the CEO, my old friend Alex Gruzen for a job very well done!

The 4 Benefits of Tracking Employees’ Time

employees

Whether you’re running a healthcare business or a retailer, one thing remains the same: your employees’ time. You need to ensure that everyone is where they should be and that time isn’t being wasted. However, without being digitized, time can be hard to track.

When you are putting in the extra hours to complete your tasks, you could be spending surplus money on employees slacking off early or arriving a lot later than you thought (or that they told you they were).

You can’t always be sure that your staff aren’t committing buddy punching and time theft. Therefore, many businesses are looking towards digital options to ensure that their employees are on-time and in the right place when clocking in and out.

We’ve sat down with the professionals to provide you with the benefits of time tracking for your business.

4 Benefits of Tracking Employees’ Time

1. Increase Profits

At the end of the day, your main goal is to increase your bottom line. Time tracking can be a complicated process when you aren’t digitized. This is because filling out timesheets can be a lengthy task. You may find that you and your staff disagree on how long projects took to complete.

Once you digitize your company, you no longer face these issues as everything is recorded automatically. You can easily view your digital timesheets. Hence, you can make decisions based on facts rather than guesstimating.

As you have data regarding the time taken to complete tasks you can estimate much more accurately, improving your budget and therefore increasing in profits. You are able to provide your customers with the exact amount of hours as your timesheet has all the information you need.

2. Accurate Payroll

Payroll can be quite a daunting task at the ebay of times, and even more so when you use manual methods to calculate it. You may end up having to pay for more hours than your staff actually worked. Often this is a result of workers claiming they worked eight hours when you’ve scribbled down that they worked seven hours. The difference can be hard to prove, and most times you think the difference might be ‘only’ one hour. Nonetheless, you are paying out of your pocket for the extra hour here and there…which massively adds up – and costs you – over time.

3. Employee Time Tracking App

If you are done with traditional methods and looking for an app that will ease you into the modern era, then Connecteam is for you. The user-friendly employee time tracking app has everything you need to help run your business more efficiently and effectively.

Clocking in and out is done via an employee’s smartphone or mobile device. With the GPS geofencing feature, you can assign geographic locations that your employees must clock in and out from. For example, if your site is located at point X, employees can only clock in and from that point.

By setting a geofence, you can ensure that employees clock in on time and receive payment for the hours completed on site. The GPS geofencing has added GPS breadcrumbs, which allows you to see your employees on the move throughout the day. The graphic image provides you with data regarding the locations visited along with your employee’s workday

With the data collected, you can guarantee employees have been where they are supposed to be. Therefore, you no longer need to worry about possible time theft and buddy punching.

With the advanced technology of the time clock, payroll issues are no longer a thing. This is due to:

  • The seamless Quickbooks Online integration – your employees only need to clock in and out, and the data is sent straight to Quickbooks for easy payroll!
  • Employees receive reminders to clock in and out
  • Employees are notified when they reach their maximum working hours limit
  • You can lock the timesheet at the end of the workday to prevent changes without permission

Connecteam even has a kiosk app for those with a business that require all employees to work at the same site. Employees arrive and clock in and out via the tablet which is set in a designated area. Users use their unique passcode to clock in.

We’ve only highlighted a few of the things that Connecteam is capable of. Connecteam has so much more to offer, such as task management, engagement opportunities, chat, advanced scheduling, and more.

4. Set Goals

When you track time efficiently you can begin to make clear deadlines over how long tasks should take to complete. By tracking time every member of your team knows exactly what to do and what is expected of them.

The Final Say on Time Tracking

Time tracking is important and optimizes all areas of your business. It aids you in understanding the length of time projects take to complete, along with budgeting correctly and most importantly getting the best out of your employees. What’s more, you cut out any unpleasant discussions over payroll as everything is streamlined.

Time tracking reduces the time it takes to coordinate your team, conduct payroll, etc. It allows you to get back to what’s really important, growing your business.

Steps To Take After Sustaining Injuries At Workplace

Crutches Trauma Fracture Legs Injury Bone Health

Many people think it is unlikely to get injured at workplaces, but accidents could occur anywhere if neglected. To ensure you or the person injured are safe and protected, you must know the correct measures to take after you get injured at your workplace.

If your superiors fail to offer appropriate care and consideration, you should meet a Jersey City personal injury lawyer for your safety. A workplace makes it mandatory for all the employees to be treated equally with or without an injury. As per the laws, it is the employer’s responsibility to provide a safe environment for their employees. However, if you sustained injuries at the workplace, here are a few steps you should take.

1. Medical Care first

Regardless of how painful the injury might be, it is necessary to seek medical help immediately. If you or someone at your workplace gets injured, you should consult medical professionals to ensure no one gets hurt.

Neglecting an injury would deepen it and prolong your suffering. Having a doctor or a physician for the checkup could be helpful in many ways. If medical help does not seem available, ensure the person injured gets enough rest in a medical care facility within the workplace.

2. Maintain medical records

Medical records can be influential when applying for a health-related or personal injury claim. Not only will it act as proof of the situation, but it will also help the injured person to take appropriate follow-ups with the doctor.

3. Reporting the injury

As said earlier, any medical record could help an attorney build the case. Reporting the injury at the earliest time frame might help you provide legitimate evidence. Some people use pretenses or false information to achieve the claim. A jury would dismiss such a case, and insurance companies immediately break ties. Report the matter to your seniors without rushing into anything.

4. Communicate with the lawyer

After securing medical help and reporting the incident to your superiors, you must communicate with your attorney to further build a case if needed. To elaborate further, discuss the situation with your Jersey City lawyer and make sure you mention all the necessary details to them. Let the attorney take care of the paperwork. Lastly, implement a schedule or program for returning to work by discussing it with your managers and lawyer.

5. Prioritize safety

Now, once you have established a return-to-work program, do not avoid or forget to consult medical care follow-ups. If neglected, it would result in an unproductive workplace. After completely recovering from the injury, prioritize your safety and take necessary precautions.

Vaping May Cause Teeth and Gum Disease, Recent Study Warns

man vaping vape

Just as with cigarette smoking, vaping creates a low oxygen environment that’s a perfect breeding ground for highly pathogenic microorganisms like Fusobacterium (which causes gum disease and found to be more in e-cigarette smokers than cigarette smokers) and Treponema (a family of bacteria that include some that cause syphilis).

While nonsmokers and smokers shared 20 percent of all types of bacteria normally found in the mouth, researchers found both types of smokers were home to colonies of harmful bacteria known to cause serious gum infections. Past studies found an indicator of gum disease, called clinical attachment loss, was significantly worse in e-cigarette users compared to cigarette smokers and nonsmokers, likely putting them more at risk of getting infected.

“What we were trying to find out is whether the spectrum of an e-cigarette user’s oral microbiome is closer to a smoker’s or closer to a non-smoker’s,” Deepak Saxena, a molecular pathologist at NYU and lead author of the new study, told The Daily Beast.

In a peer-reviewed study published in mBio on Tuesday, the researchers found that individuals who smoked cigarettes or vaped had entirely different oral microbiomes than nonsmokers, which included bacteria implicated in the destruction of gum tissue and tooth and bone loss.

The team’s next plan is to study how exactly vaping encourages a unique oral microbiome, how nicotine and our oral bacteria interact with one another and whether bacteria break down nicotine.

But over the years, growing evidence against vaping’s supposed safety—and a 2019 outbreak of vaping use-associated lung injury (EVALI) resulting in over 2,800 cases and 68 deaths as of Feb. 2020—is changing the public’s perception of these innocuous devices that come in a dizzying array of shapes and flavors.

Saxena and his group want to investigate if this breakdown influences the immune system’s activity in the mouth (that seems to be the case as they found vaping associated with immune proteins called cytokines that can cause inflammation).

When electronic cigarettes arrived on the market over a decade ago, proponents touted the aerosol, battery-powered devices as a safer and healthier alternative to tobacco cigarettes, and even a potential way to help smokers kick their habit.

Still, it’s exceedingly clear these days that vaping is far from the healthier substitute to cigarette smoking people once touted.

Vaping damages microbiome health in a strange way, new study reveals

Researchers at NYU have discovered that vaping creates a unique microbiome in the mouth. The findings are critical for anyone who has used e-cigarettes.

Most Ukrainians Distrust the West and Don’t Believe Biden’s Warnings

Russia Flag National Russian Federation Country

Although Capitol Hill pundits may disagree with her, Afenkina is among the majority of Ukrainians who simply do not believe that Russia is going to invade.

Even as tensions boil with more than 150,000 Russian troops along the border in annexed Crimea and in neighbouring Belarus, just one in five Ukrainians think the full-scale conflict is inevitable.

Only 20.4 percent of Ukrainians believe that a full-scale invasion will happen soon, and only 4.4 percent are adamant it is definitely taking place, according to a survey by the Gorshenin Institute, an independent pollster, conducted between February 2 and 14.

Instead, some Ukrainians such as Afenkina contend that their ex-Soviet nation of 44 million is but a pawn in the geopolitical games in the US, a useful tool to consolidate support and gain votes.

Metaland on the Tuyere of the Metaverse

1 (2)

Since Facebook announced in October 2021 that it would change its brand name to Meta, investment in the Web 3.0 Metaverse space has continued to increase. While the metaverse is still in the early stages of development, many aspects have the potential to revolutionize our digital lives. Therefore, the native Token of the metaverse economy and the real estate assets of the virtual world have been developed, including Metaland.

Metaland, one of the leading blockchain-based virtual worlds, is creating an open-world metaverse where users can earn VRLD (native Token), buy VRLAND, a method that divides Metaland into virtual parcels Non-fungible Token (NFT). Similar to brick-and-mortar real estate, the real estate value of the Metaland ecosystem is created by interactions and exchanges between users across many commercial activities, including art galleries, offices, gaming and casinos, advertising, sponsored content, and music venues.

While the concept of virtual real estate is difficult to reconcile at the moment, that could soon change. From the birth of human beings to the popularization of the Internet, human beings spend their entire lives in the material world. In just a few decades, the web has transformed the way we shop, socialize, entertain, and more, making the tech industry the largest stock market today. While we have been using the web since the early 2000s, ownership of internet value has only been possible since Bitcoin launched in 2009. Since then, the shift to Web 3.0 has brought many innovations, including the emerging trend of owning our online world through metaverse real estate.

From gaming companies to Metaverse REITs to virtual land development companies, real estate buyers are increasingly looking to Metaland as a cutting-edge opportunity. These metaverse pioneers are building digital economies in emerging markets and seeking to profit from increased consumer adoption and commercial activity in virtual worlds.

Growing public interest in the Metaverse is fueling Metaland’s virtual real estate boom, with a virtual piece of land sold for a new record for around $2.4 million in November 2021. The Metaland real estate market and the VRLD token are closely linked, and increased interest in VRLD is the basis for VRLD’s intrinsic value.

Metaland Real Estate

The value of VRLAND is based on its location relative to other LAND parcels, similar to the physical real estate market. In Metaland, proximity to public areas such as Genesis Plaza or public roads has become a driver of value. As user traffic to a piece of VRLAND increases, so does the potential opportunity to monetize the land through the sale of NFTs, advertising, or other services.

Study: Risk of Mental Health Disorder Increases After Covid

depression therapy counselling treatment psychotherapy

COVID-19 pandemic has had devastating mental health consequences for millions of people around the world. People infected with the coronavirus are more likely to be battling serious mental health issues in the year after recovery.

The link appears to be bidirectional, meaning that people with certain mood disorders are at greater risk of developing severe COVID, which is why they were cleared for booster shots before the general public.

Experts believe the psychological stress of the pandemic may play a significant role, as can the emotional turmoil of coping with an infection and subsequent symptoms that can arise and last for months on end.

But experts also increasingly believe that COVID itself may have a direct impact on the brain. One of the leading hypotheses is that the virus can enter the brain and disturb cellular and neuron pathways, leading to mental health disorders, which may also affect the central nervous system and affect the brain, such as confusion and forgetfulness and confusion.

NVIDIA and Jaguar: Creating the Perfect Balance Between Driving Experience and AI Safety

This week, NVIDIA and Jaguar announced a technology partnership that could provide the perfect balance between autonomous driving technology and driver experience. This balance will be critical to the existing automotive market if it wishes to remain viable rather than be replaced by horizontal elevators that function more like an automated Uber than current car ownership.

Let’s explore this dynamic this week.

The problem with autonomous cars

The way autonomous cars are being presented today makes no sense to drivers. Having a subscription to a car service like Uber or Lift makes more sense than buying a car you can’t drive yourself. While this might make economic sense, current car owners who connect their vehicles to status and driving enjoyment aren’t on board with a future where they lose the privilege of driving and owning a car.

While the self-driving technology is certainly capable of taking full control of the car (and for many this may be the preferred way of travel; otherwise, Uber and Lift wouldn’t be successful), most drivers appear to prefer car ownership and the ability to drive themselves.

However, we know that autonomous vehicles, once the technology is ready, will be far safer than human-driven cars and save thousands of lives a year. What is needed is a blended solution that provides the safety benefits of an autonomous vehicle with the fun and enjoyment of a car you drive yourself.

Jaguar

I’ve been driving Jaguars since I was a teenager, have worked as a Jaguar mechanic and, until recently, owned four of them (I’m down to two now). Jaguar is a car drivers’ company that has, over the years, established itself as a firm that appeals to people who love to drive their cars and like those cars to have a personality. Granted, up until Ford bought the company last century, the brand had a very poor-quality record, but that record has improved first under Ford and more recently under Tata, which now owns both Jaguar and Land Rover.

Therefore, if there is one company that could build a car capable of autonomous driving but still provide a great driving experience, it would likely be Jaguar. The company’s first electric vehicle, the I-Pace, is arguably better-looking, better-handling, and better-built than a Tesla. It did have initial technology ‘teething’ problems which I experienced firsthand since I bought one of the first I-Paces shipped into the U.S.

NVIDIA

This is where NVIDIA comes in. NVIDIA has matured over the years to provide not only a leading solution for automobile self-driving systems but also for enterprise solutions because it learned how to seamlessly provide software feature updates and patches. This ability to provide updates without disruption, while now common in enterprise solutions, is anything but for automotive solutions. My first software update from Jaguar after getting the car made it undrivable, a mistake that NVIDIA’s process should assure doesn’t recur.

NVIDIA employs many car lovers and was one of the first sites in Silicon Valley to put electric car chargers into its parking lots. Heavily into the metaverse for simulation and testing, the company provides what is believed to be the most mature and capable solution for self-driven cars.

Thus, this partnership between Jaguar and NVIDIA could potentially result in the best blend of autonomous driving technology and driver experience as a concept Toyota has named Guardian Angel.  Guardian Angel allows you to drive, but its autonomous technology can immediately take over and prevent most accidents if needed.

This last was driven home earlier this week when a semi-truck doing 60 mph ran a stoplight and would have hit me had I not been looking right at the truck at the time. It was a close call that NVIDIA’s Drive platform is designed to handle more effectively.

Wrapping up: The future of autonomous cars

While we may eventually turn driving over to computers, the drivers aren’t nearly ready for it and will likely rebel if they are told they can no longer drive their cars. Blending Jaguar’s driver-focused concepts and beautiful flowing car designs with NVIDIA’s market-leading self-driving technology should result in a near-perfect hybrid, one that allows you to still drive your car but that can step in to prevent you from having a life-threatening or crippling accident. Other potential advantages are an onboard digital trainer to improve your lap times safely on track days, and automatically stepping in to take control if you fall asleep, have had too much to drink, are having a health emergency, or are just taking unnecessary risks.

It will unfortunately reduce the number of “stupid driver” YouTube videos significantly, but that is a price I’m willing to pay to keep myself out of those videos. In the end, this coming solution from Jaguar using NVIDIA technology should represent the near-perfect blend of driving experience and safety when the cars come to market in 2025 as 2026 models under their new Panthera premium electric car line. Sight unseen, I’d like a black one, please, because I can think of nothing better than a hot electric car that keeps me safe and reminds me of a Black Panther.  How much do you want to bet one of these shows up in the new Marvell Black Panther movie?  It would likely be a ton cooler than the Black Panther Lexus.  When the F-Type launched, it had an amazing theme song and video, I’m thinking an electric Jaguar Black Panthera with a Marvel tie-in using NVIDIA technology (to create the video) could be even more amazing. The cars and related ad campaigns aren’t due until 2025, and I can hardly wait! (Until then here is a link to the old jaguar vs. Mercedes ad wars, because Mercedes is also using NVIDIA in their upcoming cars suggesting an even more awesome coming battle).

Mark Stiffler Discusses The Pros and Cons of Investing Your Own Money Into Your Company

Statistics on a laptop

When you’re starting a business, there are a lot of important decisions to make. One of the most important is whether or not to invest your own money into the company. This decision shouldn’t be taken lightly, as there are both pros and cons to investing your own money. This article from Mark Stiffler, who served as Optymyze CEO, will discuss the pros and cons of investing your own money into your company. We will also help you decide if this is the right decision for you and your business.

Pros of Investing Your Own Money Into Your Company

There are many benefits to investing your own money into a business. Here are just a few of them:

You will have more control over the direction of the company. Investors often want to steer their companies in certain directions, which can make you feel like you’re losing control of what was once your dream or passion project. You won’t need to worry about this issue anymore by not having investors! This is one reason why some people choose not to invest their own money. They don’t want other people telling them how much time and energy should be spent on each aspect of running an organization (marketing vs. sales vs. operations, etc.). If there’s something specific that sets it apart from competitors – such as pricing structure or customer service policies – you can implement it right away without having to worry about getting investor approval.

You’ll have a sense of ownership and pride in the company. When you invest your own money into a business, you’re making a financial commitment to its success. This often leads to a stronger emotional connection with the company and a greater sense of ownership and pride. You’ll be more likely to work hard to make your business successful since it’s no longer just an idea or dream – it’s now your livelihood!

You’ll get tax breaks. Investing your own money into a company offers some great tax benefits. For example, if you are self-employed and use your vehicle for business purposes, you may be able to deduct the cost of the vehicle from your taxes.

You’ll make more money in the long run. When you invest your own money into a company, you’re essentially taking on less risk than if you were to invest someone else’s money, says Mark Stiffler. This is because you have a personal stake in the company and are more likely to work hard to make it successful. As a result, you’re also more likely to see an increase in the value of your investment over time.

Cons of Investing Your Own Money Into Your Company

There are also some potential drawbacks to investing your own money into a business:

It can be difficult to get back out if things go wrong. If the company fails, you may find yourself stuck with a lot of debt and no way to pay it back. This is one of the main reasons many people choose not to invest their own money – they don’t want to risk losing everything they’ve worked for.

You’ll have less money to work with. When you invest your own money into a company, you’re essentially putting all your eggs in one basket. This means that you’ll have less money available to use for other purposes, such as expanding the business or covering unexpected costs.

It can be difficult to get investors later on if you need them. If things don’t go well and you decide you need investors, after all, it may not be easy to find someone willing to put money into a company that its founder has already funded.

How to Decide If Investing Your Own Money Into a Company Is the Right Decision for You

Before deciding whether or not to invest your own money into a company, there are several things you need to consider from Mark Stiffler:

  • Are you comfortable taking on the risk?
  • Can you afford to lose the money that you invest?
  • Do you have a solid business plan in place?
  • Is your company generating revenue?
  • What is the value of your investment compared to similar businesses?
  • Can you realistically expect to make a return on your investment?
  • How much time and energy can you devote to running the company?

If you answer “no” to any of these questions, it may be wise not to invest your own money. However, if you answer “yes” to all of them and are financially able to do so, investing in your own business can be an exciting opportunity with great rewards!

What to Do If You Decide to Go Ahead and Invest

If you decide that investing your own money into a company is the right decision for you, several steps need to be taken before writing any checks:

Make sure it’s legal. It’s important not to make any hasty decisions when making investments because they may come back bite later on down the line (especially if things don’t go well). Make sure everything is above board by consulting with lawyers who specialize in securities laws and accountants or financial advisors familiar with investment procedures.

Have a plan for getting out if things go wrong. No one wants to think about what could happen if their business doesn’t work out, but you need to have an exit strategy in place just in case! Make sure other investors are lined up so that some of your money can be recouped and make arrangements for how much equity will remain should something unforeseen occur – such as death or incapacitation due to illness or injury.

Start the paperwork immediately after making any investments into a company; otherwise, it’s easy to forget important details down later on when they’re needed most (i.e., during tax season). Document everything from your initial interest level through any changes made over time – this way, nothing gets lost or forgotten about along the way.

Tips for Making the Most of This Type of Investment

There are many ways to make the most out of an investment, but here are a few tips that can help you get started:

  • Do your research before investing in anything. Read up on what other people have said about their experiences with similar companies and consult with experts if needed (e.g., financial advisors).
  • Set realistic expectations when it comes to how much money will be made from this type of investment, as well as how long it might take before seeing any return.
  • Keep track of what’s going on with the business – both good and bad – so that you can make informed decisions about whether or not to stay invested. This may require attending board meetings, reviewing financial reports, etc.

Being an investor in your own company can be a great way to secure its future while also having a personal stake in its success. However, it’s important to weigh all the pros and cons before deciding if this is the right move for you. By following these tips, you’ll be well on your way to making smart investments that could pay off big time down the line!

Tips to Consider Before Investing in Cryptocurrencies

Bitcoin Crypto Cryptocurrency Blockchain Technology

In the times that we’re living in, technology has made unbelievable advancements as compared to any time in the past. This evolution has redefined the life of man in almost every aspect. In fact, this evolution is an ongoing process and thus, human life on earth is improving constantly day in and day out. One of the latest inclusions in this aspect is cryptocurrencies.

Cryptocurrency is nothing but digital currency which has been designed to impose security and anonymity in online monetary transactions. It uses cryptographic encryption to both generate currency and verify transactions. The new coins are created by a process called mining, whereas the transactions are recorded in a public ledger, which is called the Transaction BlockChain.

If you check out the most impactful development in recent times, the first thing that comes to our minds, without a doubt, is cryptocurrency. People have made huge profits by investing in cryptocurrencies like bitcoin and more at the right time. Many people have also managed to make a heyday by simply providing a cryptocurrency exchange platform to investors to trade cryptocurrencies.

Do you want to invest your hard-earned money in cryptocurrency? If so, make sure you know you meet the criteria prior to making the final decision. Without considering important factors, you might risk losing your money. There are a lot of cryptocurrencies out there, such as Blockchain or Bitcoin. In this guide, we are going to share with you a few tips that you can follow before you deposit your money

Cryptocurrencies are volatile. This is both their bane and boon. As a trader, you have to understand that wild price swings are unavoidable. Uncertainty over when to make a move makes one an ineffective trader. Leverage hard data and other research methods to be sure when to execute a trade. Successful traders belong to various online forums where cryptocurrency discussions regarding market trends and signals are discussed. Sure, your knowledge may be sufficient, but you need to rely on other traders for more relevant data.

Be sensible and follow all of the basic rules of investing. A few people have got burnt fingers by not following some of the most basic common-sense rules which apply to all forms of investing. I have made a list of the main ones to consider. Here they are.

The money you are using to purchase Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the like must be money you can fully afford to lose. It must be discretionary spending money. You wouldn’t go to the races or the betting shop with your retirement fund and use that to gamble with. Cryptocurrency investing has to be treated in the same way. It is highly volatile. The number one rule is to purchase cryptocurrency with money you can fully afford to lose using only your discretionary spending money. So, find out here before investing your money in the world of cryptocurrency. This way you can avoid common mistakes that most investors make. Hope this helps.

You may visit blockster.com, one of the best resources if you are going to invest in cryptocurrency like Bitcoin.

5 Healthy Recipes to Get You to Drink Water

water and strawberry

When deciding what to drink for the day, it may be tempting to indulge in those sugary sodas and colored fruit juices, but all that glucose and artificial flavorings don’t do your health any favors. Water is your best source of hydration and is essential for healthy body functions.

Water is what delivers necessary hydration and oxygen throughout our bodies. Water is calorie-free, neutral pH, and may have minerals and nutrients to support our immune systems. However, the bland taste of water is not appealing for a lot of people, especially children who prefer sweet-tasting drinks over water.

If you or your child find it difficult to keep your hydration level up throughout the day, consider these 5 healthy infused-water recipes that will get you to drink more water. These recipes use fruit and herbs for a healthy drink, and take note of the best bottled water brands when choosing your water base!

1. Vitamin C Boost – Orange, Lime, Lemon, and Grapefruit

Orange, lime, lemon, and grapefruit are all part of the citrus family, provide fun, tart flavors, and are chock full of vitamin C that is great for an immunity boost! Toss together slices of orange, some lime wedges, lemon juice, and grapefruit slices in a large pitcher of water. Let the fruits infuse for a couple of hours.

Drink up the vitamin C-infused water, and feel your immune system strengthening! This infused water recipe is best drunk within the day, as vitamin C tends to break down over time, and the citrus rinds may make the water bitter when steeped too long. For additional sweetness, add some honey to the water instead of sugar.

2. Morning Energizer – Apple, Honey, Mint

Apple, honey, and mint creates a wonderful and indulgent infusion that tastes like ambrosia to wake up your senses. The refreshing coolness of mint, coupled with the sweetness of honey and the crisp flavor of apples, revitalizes you better than any caffeinated coffee or tea! Drink this infused water instead of coffee, and power up your day.

Slice the cored apple thinly, and place the slices – skin and all, into a pitcher of water. Add some honey and sprigs of muddled mint, and let the flavors infuse overnight. The next morning, you’ll have a ready-to-drink energizer and hydration that will get you up and running throughout the day! Create a convenient grab-and-go version using bottled water, too.

3. Tropical Punch – Passionfruit, Orange, Pineapple

For a drink that’s reminiscent of your favorite childhood drink, mix together passion fruit, orange slices, and pineapple chunks into your water to create a refreshing tropical punch. Go on an island getaway from the comfort of your home as you take a sip of this summer-y drink through the day, and keep on hydrating yourself!

Plus, oranges, passion fruits, and pineapples are full of vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants that improve your bodily functions, and keep your gut healthy! Drink up, and feel the island vibes! Add cherries for an extra flavor boost, or strawberries for that signature red tropical punch color!

4. Forest Fruits – Strawberry, Blackberry, Blueberry, Raspberry

What do forest berries have in common? They’re all full of antioxidants that keep our bodies healthy and remove the toxins that we’ve accumulated from eating unhealthy food and from the stress of everyday work. Slice the berries into small pieces, and let them steep in your water overnight. They should have a slightly purple color that will make you stop your juice cravings!

For flavored refreshment on the go, prepare bottled water, and mix your fruits in a separate bowl. Add an appropriate amount of fruit mix in each bottle, and let them steep. You’ll have “juice” bottles for drinking any time of the day, and your kids will love the fun, fruity flavors without all that unhealthy processed sugar!

5. Cooling Water – Cucumber, Mint, Apple

This recipe is best drunk during the hot, summer months. Cucumber has a cooling effect that lowers your body temperature, while mint gives an icy feel to the beverage. Apple slices provide a crisp, sweet flavor that locks in the flavors together. Slice up your ingredients, and let them steep into your water.

This cooling water is perfect for hydrating after sports, swimming, or any summer activity! Serve these up to your kids for their summer barbeques instead of those sugary lemonades, and keep the fun going with this cooling water!
