It’s been six months to the day since Nintendo and The Pokemon Company announced they were suing Pocketpair, the developer behind the “Pokemon with guns” survival game Palworld. After months of controversy surrounding the game’s various alleged Pokemon knock-offs a lawsuit seemed inevitable, and the internet was lit…

Y Combinator CEO Garry Tan said startups are reaching $1-10 million annual revenue with fewer than 10 employees due to “vibe coding,” a term coined by OpenAI cofounder Andrej Karpathy in February.
“You can just talk to the large language models and they will code entire apps,” Tan told CNBC (video). “You don’t have to hire someone to do it, you just talk directly to the large language model that wrote it and it’ll fix it for you.” What would’ve once taken “50 or 100” engineers to build, he believes can now be accomplished by a team of 10, “when they are fully vibe coders.” He adds: “When they are actually really, really good at using the cutting edge tools for code gen today, like Cursor or Windsurf, they will literally do the work of 10 or 100 engineers in the course of a single day.”
According to Tan, 81% of Y Combinator’s current startup batch consists of AI companies, with 25% having 95% of their code written by large language models. Despite limitations in debugging capabilities, Tan said the technology enables small teams to perform work previously requiring dozens of engineers and makes previously overlooked niche markets viable for software businesses.
Hulu’s lineup of original content is lighter in April than in previous months but includes the sixth and final season of The Handmaid’s Tale (April 8), the dystopian drama based originally on Margaret Atwood’s novel but that has long since evolved into a world of its own. According to the Hulu synopsis, June (Elisabeth Moss), Luke, and Moira make up the resistance to bring down Gilead. A sequel series, The Testaments, also based on an Atwood novel of the same name, is in development for release after The Handmaid’s Tale ends.
Hulu has a new original reality competition show launching in April to take on Peacock’s hit series The Traitors. On Got to Get Out (April 11), 20 contestants are racing against time to steal $1 million from each other and escape without getting caught. The show is hosted by Simi Liu and includes reality stars like Spencer Pratt, Cynthia Bailey, and Val Chmerkovskiy.
April also brings season two of Hulu original series No Man’s Land (April 16) about the Syrian war and a new standup special from Jessica Kirson (I’m the Man, April 25).
Here’s everything else coming to (and leaving) Hulu in April.

Lego has teased its latest video game mashup and this time it’s with Pokémon. There’s no release date beyond “2026,” no pricing info or other details at the moment, and it doesn’t really matter because whatever this is will probably sell out while it’s still in the pre-order phase. Are you ready to give some rando on…
Meta has finally released the long-awaited Passthrough Camera API for Quest, which gives developers direct access to the headset’s passthrough RGB cameras for better scene understanding—kickstarting the next generation of more immersive mixed reality experiences on Quest.
Until now, Quest’s passthrough cameras were mostly locked down, limiting what developers could do beyond Meta’s built-in functionalities. The company mentioned back at Connect in September it would eventually release Quest’s Passthrough Camera API, although it wasn’t certain when.
Now, in the Meta XR Core SDK v74, Meta has release Passthrough Camera API as a Public Experimental API, providing access to Quest 3 and Quest 3S’ forward-facing RGB cameras.

Passthrough camera access will essentially help developers improve lighting and effects in their mixed reality apps, but also apply machine learning and computer vision to the camera feed for things like detailed object recognition, making mixed reality content less of a guessing game of what’s in a user’s environment.
When it was announced last year, former Meta VP of VR/AR Mark Rabkin said the release of Quest’s Passthrough API would enable “all kinds of cutting-edge MR experiences,” including things like tracked objects, AI applications, “fancy” overlays, scene understanding.
This marks the first time the API has been publicly available, although Meta has previously released early builds with select partners, including Niantic Labs, Creature, and Resolution Games—which are presenting today at GDC 2025 in a Meta talk entitled ‘Merge Realities, Multiply Wonder: Expert Guidance on Mixed Reality Development’.
Granted, as an experimental feature, developers can’t publish apps built using the Passthrough Camera API just yet, although it’s likely Meta is again taking an iterative approach to the feature’s full release.
The v74 release also includes Microgestures for intuitive thumb-based gestures (e.g., thumb taps, swipes), an Immersive Debugger so developers can view and inspect Scene Hierarchy directly within the headset, and new building blocks, such as friends matchmaking and local matchmaking.
LG is accepting preorders in the US for its UltraGear GX9 (model 45GX950A-B), a curved (800R) gaming monitor built around a bodacious 45-inch OLED panel with a 5120×2160 resolution and various bells and whistles. According to LG, the GX9 is the world’s first 5K2K OLED monitor, and we haven’t found any proof to suggest otherwise.

From controlling lights and appliances remotely to monitoring security cameras and automating climate control, smart home technology has become increasingly accessible.
One of the neat aspects of graphics cards is in the vast variety of models that release with varying levels of design. To that end, Acer has introduced some interesting custom GPUs of its own, based on the freshly-minted AMD Radeon RX 9070 family. The Acer Predator BiFrost sounds menacing from its name alone, and is part of the six new GPUs
Before he was abruptly fired last month, Derek Copeland worked as a trainer at the US Department of Agriculture’s National Dog Detection Training Center, preparing beagles and Labrador retrievers to sniff out plants and animals that are invasive or vectors for zoonotic diseases, like swine fever. Copeland estimates the NDDTC lost about a fifth of its trainers and a number of other support staff when 6,000 employees were let go at the USDA in February as part of a government-wide purge orchestrated by the Trump administration and Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Before he received his termination notice, he says, Copeland had just spent several months training the only dog stationed in Florida capable of detecting the Giant African land snail, an invasive mollusk that poses a significant threat to Florida agriculture. “We have dogs for spotted and lantern flies, Asian longhorn beetles,” he says, referring to two other non-native species. “I don’t think the American people realize how much crap that people bring into the United States.”
Dog trainers are just one example of the kind of highly specialized USDA staff that have been removed from their stations in recent weeks. Teams devoted to inspecting plant and food imports have been hit especially hard by the recent cuts, including the Plant Protection and Quarantine program, which has lost hundreds of staffers alone.
The beta of Fedora Linux 42 is out this morning with countless improvements over the prior release. Time and again, studies and surveys identify the time it takes to charge an electric vehicle as one of the most significant hurdles affecting EV adoption. For generations, drivers have gotten used to being able to refuel their cars in five minutes using energy-dense liquid hydrocarbons, and plenty of them balk at the idea of having to drive a car where recharging a battery takes half an hour or more. Now it seems that may not be an excuse for much longer—in China, at least.
New tech has been developed by BYD, the Chinese automaker that recently eclipsed Tesla as the leading EV maker by volume. Called the “super e-platform,” the new batteries are able to charge at 10C, and the new DC chargers peak at 1,000 kW. BYD says this will add 249 miles (400 km) of range in just five minutes. By contrast, most current Tesla Superchargers peak at 250 kW, with Electrify America’s chargers maxing out at 350 kW, and even the powerful new chargers used by Formula E can only reach 600 kW.
“Our goal is to make EV charging as fast as refueling a gasoline car,” said BYD chairperson Wang Chuanfu.
The second set of Xbox Game Pass games for March 2025 have been confirmed and they include plenty of things to look forward too. From apocalyptic RPC Atomfall to the Blizzard Arcade Collection sporting retro co-op delight The Lost Vikings, it’s packed. It’s almost enough to make up for all of the great games leaving…

The rumors were right: Google parent Alphabet has agreed to buy cyber security start-up Wiz for $32 billion, the biggest acquisition in the search group’s history. From the report: Alphabet held talks over a $23 billion acquisition of Wiz last year, although the negotiations collapsed after some of the cyber security company’s directors and investors became worried about antitrust hurdles.
The deal, which will rank as the biggest deal of the year so far, was announced on Tuesday morning. It will probably still face scrutiny from the Federal Trade Commission under President Donald Trump, whose new chair Andrew Ferguson has maintained guidelines giving the agency the ability to block large deals used by his predecessor Lina Khan.
