Corsair Accused Of Cancelling $3499 PC Order Only To Relist It For $4299
Times are as tough as they’ve been in recent memory for the DIY PC market. GPUs are going up, SSDs are high, memory is outrageous, and even power supplies might be increasing in price. It’s never a terrible idea to consider pre-built PCs, but particularly the way things are right now, purchasing a PC from the likes of Maingear, MSI, or Corsair

Amazon’s base Kindle is $20 off right now

The latest entry-level Kindle ereader is on sale for $90 via Amazon. This is a nice discount of $20. It’s not a record-low price, but it’s certainly a budget-friendly way to keep that New Year’s resolution to read more.

This made our list of the best ereaders, and for good reason. It’s an iconic device that gets the job done. It doesn’t have much by way of modern bells and whistles, but it ships with 16GB of storage and comes in two snazzy colorways.

The build is compact and durable. It’s also light, which makes it easy to pack and easy to hold up with one hand. It allows access to the vast Kindle library and this deal comes with three months of Kindle Unlimited. That’s sort of like Netflix, but for books. The selection isn’t comprehensive, but I’ve always found something to read when in a pinch.

This is an entry-level device. There’s no color screen and no option to use a stylus. The battery, however, does last around six weeks with regular use. This is a metric I can personally confirm. It seems like I barely charge mine and it’s always ready to go.

The only major downside here is that this is one of those Amazon devices that forces ads on you. There is a version without lockscreen ads, but it costs more. I never really found them to be all that intrusive, given that they are tethered to the lockscreen and mostly advertise books.

This Rally Orbital Massager Is My Tech Upgrade of the Week

We may earn a commission from links on this page.

There’s something extra satisfying about starting a new year with an upgrade that actually makes a difference in your daily routine. After years of relying on my traditional percussive massage guns, I’ve made the switch to the Rally Orbital Massager. And one by one, my friends have started following in my footsteps to make the same move. Hey, there’s something validating about watching people you trust independently come to the same conclusion.

Why I love the Rally Orbital Massager

Don’t get me wrong—my Theragun still serves me well. It’s been a reliable companion after workouts, helping ease tension and speed up recovery. But with the Rally, the orbital motion technology sets it apart immediately. Instead of the percussive hammering that defines traditional massage guns, the Rally uses a circular, multi-directional approach that feels more like the hands of a skilled massage therapist. (Or like a car buffer, as the founders described it to me on a phone call.)

I’m simply more likely to reach for a device that feels good to use, rather than one that hurts. It’s a game-changer for consistency. With my old massage gun, I’d psyche myself out before sessions: “Do I really need this? Can I handle the intensity right now?” With the Rally, there’s no mental barrier. I can use it while watching TV, during work breaks, or as part of my bedtime routine, without dreading the experience.

At the same time, let me be upfront: At regularly $499 (and currently on sale for $399), the Rally Orbital Massager isn’t cheap. It’s a significant step up in price from most massage guns on the market, including the Theragun. It’s probably not an impulse buy. Still, it’s an investment that helps me maintain the active lifestyle I value.

The bottom line

Starting 2026 with this upgrade feels right. My Theragun will still have a place in my recovery arsenal—it’s way too useful to completely retire—but the Rally has quickly become my go-to device. The difference in how my muscles feel, the reduction in soreness, and the overall quality of the recovery experience have made it worth every penny.

If you’re serious about recovery and you’re in a position to make the investment, I’d encourage you to at least try one. Based on my friend group’s conversion rate, there’s a good chance you’ll be joining the Rally revolution too. Here’s to a year of better recovery, less soreness, and smarter investments in our health.

Clicks is bringing its first smartphone and a new keyboard to CES 2026

Clicks is bringing its physical keyboard products to CES yet again, and these are chock full of nostalgia. The company has also unveiled its first smartphone, aimed at “communication, not consumption,” that it says will function as a second phone used mostly for messaging.

The phone is dubbed the Clicks Communicator and features a tactile keyboard, a 4-inch OLED display, a 3.5mm headphone jack and expandable microSD storage up to 2TB. The interface is built on Android 16 and supports hardware-level encryption.

Even though Clicks says it wants to leave “content capture” to a users’ primary device, the Communicator still sports a 50MP main camera and 24MP front camera. The phone also has NFC to support Google Pay, along with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capability. Its 4,000 mAh battery can be charged via USB-C or wireless charging.

While the Communicator may look like a Blackberry or Palm device from days gone by, it carries modern features like a fingerprint sensor in the spacebar. It also has what Clicks calls a Signal LED, which is a customizable alert light that lets users know when specific people or apps are causing notifications.

As much as Clicks talks about its new phone as a secondary device, it follows the trend of minimalist or “dumb” phones as more users pull away from an overexposure to technology, social media and notifications. Some might even find it compelling as a primary device. But the secondary device idea feels unproven: having two phones would mean two phone plans with two phone numbers, which could be impractical for many users. The Communicator can be reserved now for $399 and will increase to $499 on February 27.

For users wanting a tactile keyboard to use with standard smartphones, Clicks has made the Power Keyboard. It features a QWERTY layout with directional keys and a number row. It attaches via MagSafe or Qi2 and has a 2,150 mAh battery to help keep your phone topped up. The phone can then be flipped into either a horizontal or vertical orientation, which ends up resembling a T-Mobile Sidekick.

The keyboard is compatible with both iOS and Android and since it pairs via Bluetooth, it can also be used with tablets, smart TVs and virtual reality headsets. Pre-orders for the Power Keyboard will open January 2 and an actual launch is expected in the spring. The keyboard will retail for $110, though early-bird pricing is available for $80.

Reading is a Vice

The International Publishers Association spent the past year promoting the slogan “Democracy depends on reading,” but Atlantic senior editor Adam Kirsch argues that this utilitarian pitch fundamentally misunderstands why people become readers in the first place.

The most recent Survey of Public Participation in the Arts found that less than half of Americans read a single book in 2022, and only 38% read a novel or short story. A University of Florida and University College London study found daily reading for pleasure fell 3% annually from 2003 to 2023. Among 13-year-olds, just 14% read for fun almost every day in 2023, down from 27% a decade earlier.

Kirsch says to stop treating reading as civic medicine. “It would be better to describe reading not as a public duty but as a private pleasure, sometimes even a vice,” he writes. When literature was considered transgressive, moralists couldn’t stop people from buying dangerous books. Now that books are deemed virtuous, nobody picks them up. He points to Don Quixote and Madame Bovary — novels whose protagonists are ruined by their reading habits. Great writers, he notes, never idealized literature the way educators do. The pitch to young readers should emphasize staying up late reading under the covers by flashlight, hoping nobody finds out.

The Most Fun Snowball Fight Tech Money Can Buy

We may earn a commission from links on this page.

Winter weather can be miserable, but there is one huge perk: snowball fights. Any time a deep carpet of snow gets dumped on us, you can count on a bunch of kids (or young-at-heart adults) engaging in epic snowball fights, sometimes involving surprisingly well-engineered snow forts and sophisticated tactics.

This is the 21st century, however—if you’re still fighting your snowball fights with nothing but your bare hands and a sense of determination, you’re missing out. We can’t all be Buddy the Elf, shotgunning perfectly made snowballs like some sort of winter weather Terminator—but we can invest in some of the most fun snowball tech money can buy. If you’re looking to dominate your neighborhood’s winter wars (or put some snowball-tossing whippersnappers in their place), here’s what to buy.

Snowball makers

Your first step is to up your snowball-making game. A cosmetically pleasing, perfectly spherical snowball is your first step toward snowball fight dominance. This set of simple snowball forms will make it easy to stockpile perfect snowballs in just a few minutes. If you don’t have a few minutes because you’re already under attack, you might turn to this 5-in-1 snowball maker that will let you quickly amass some serious firepower.

If you want to get a little more whimsical, you can also pick up snowball-making sets that include other shapes, like ducks or hearts, if that’s your jam.

Snow throwers

Once you have your snowballs assembled, you’ll need something to augment your throwing power. This Snow Trac Ball (or these) can launch snowballs a lot further than you can with just your arm—up to 150 feet away. They also come with built-in snowball makers, so when you run out of your initial supply, you can quickly make and deploy fresh snowballs without missing a beat.

Snowball launchers

Throwing snowballs either bare-knuckled or using an implement is all well and good, but what if your opponents are serious about their snowball fighting? If you need more firepower, this Snowball Blaster is just what you need—load a snowball into the front, pull back the firing mechanism, take aim, and destroy your enemies. Want to keep things a little more primitive? This snowball slingshot keeps it simple—load a snowball, take aim, and launch for victory (this kit even comes with dye to color-code your snowballs in case you’re trying to keep score). Or go medieval on your enemies with this very cool Snow Crossbow, which even comes with a target so you can practice decimating your enemies.

Defense

No one wants a snowball to the face, so having a snowball shield on hand can keep you dry and unscathed while you rain snowballs on your opponents. Of course, this doesn’t have to be a snowball-specific shield—just about any plastic shield will help protect you from the snowballs being thrown your way.

Bonus: Indoor

Itching to have a snowball fight, but you live in a warm-weather area that hasn’t seen snow in decades? Or there just hasn’t been enough snowfall? Or it’s summer? Get yourself an indoor snowball fight kit and go to town. While you won’t get the visceral joy of smashing snow into someone’s head from a distance, you can replicate just about everything else that’s fun about snowball fights without the cold, damp, or, you know, snow. Throw in some couch-cushion forts and you have a guaranteed good time.

How to watch Awesome Games Done Quick 2026

It’s time for more speedrunning (and other shenanigans) with the Games Done Quick (GDQ) crew. The first event of the year, Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ), kicks off on Sunday, January 4, with Super Mario Sunshine. Donations for this year’s shindig will benefit the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

AGDQ 2026 has a whole week of 24/7 speedruns on tap. You’ll see slots for some of 2025’s biggest games: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Hollow Knight: Silksong and Hades II are part of the festivities. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater gets both a standard run and a “versus” showdown. There’s also plenty of classic Nintendo fare, including (among others) Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart World, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD and Super Mario 64.

A snippet of last year’s festivities
GDQ

If you like weird, there’s plenty of that to chew on, too. The GDQ team is fond of dusting off forgotten, uh, “gems” for some entertaining playthroughs. Who can forget 1996’s Bill Nye: The Science Guy – Stop the Rock! or 1994’s Adventures of Yogi Bear? And although it’s a 2022 game, children of the ’80s can revisit the gross-out trading cards of their youth, in Garbage Pail Kids: Mad Mike and the Quest for Stale Gum.

AGDQ 2026 runs from January 4 to 10. The livestream begins on Sunday at 11:30AM ET on the official GDQ Twitch channel. You can browse the full schedule for more details.

Use discount code “EXTRA10” at checkout

Price includes 1 free month of Zwift ($20 value) for new subscribers only.

Clearly, Zwift is looking to move some inventory in the UK and EU markets. This is the lowest price I’ve ever seen on the CORE 2 for UK and EU customers.

About the Wahoo KICKR CORE 2

The original Wahoo KICKR CORE’s longevity and reliability proved nothing short of startling, especially considering its price point. First released in 2018, the KICKR CORE is the “little brother” to Wahoo’s flagship KICKR trainer, and its hardware has remained unchanged since release.

It did, however, receive significant firmware updates to enable auto-calibration and Zwift virtual shifting, allowing it to become the de facto trainer paired with the Zwift Ride smart frame.

But competition in this price range is strong. September’s release of the KICKR CORE 2 brought premium features to Wahoo’s mid-budget workhorse, updating it to the standards set by the latest smart trainers.

What’s New?

New or upgraded features on the KICKR CORE 2 include:

  • WiFi connectivity for fast, reliable connections and automatic firmware updates
  • Race mode for near instantaneous response
  • Bluetooth bridging of heart rate and other sensors to consolidate connections (great for Apple TV users)
  • New flat leg design for easier, more stable setups
  • Improved multicolored LEDs indicate connection and trainer status
  • Redesigned flywheel lowers product weight while slightly increasing inertial load for better road feel
  • Reduced setup friction and waste: easier unpacking and assembly

Key Specs

  • Max Wattage: 1800W
  • Max Incline: 16%
  • Max Decline: -10%
  • Power Accuracy: +/-2%
  • Connectivity: WiFi, ANT+ FEC, ANT+ Power, Bluetooth FTMS, and Zwift Protocol

Tesla sales fell by 9 percent in 2025, its second yearly decline

Tesla published its final production and delivery numbers this morning, and they make for brutal reading. Sales were down almost 16 percent during the final three months of last year, meaning the company sold 77,343 fewer electric vehicles than it did during the same period in 2024.

For the entire year, the decline looks slightly better with a drop of 8.6 percent year on year. That means Tesla sold 1,636,129 cars in 2025, 153,097 fewer than it managed in 2024. Which in turn is more than it managed to shift in 2023.

Sales issues

Contributing factors to the poor sales are legion. The brand still relies on the Models 3 and Y to an overwhelming extent, and other than a mild cosmetic refresh, neither feels fresh or modern compared with competitors from Europe and Asia.

‘Results Were Fudged’: Departing Meta AI Chief Confirms Llama 4 Benchmark Manipulation

Yann LeCun, Meta’s outgoing chief AI scientist and one of the pioneers credited with laying the groundwork for modern AI, has acknowledged that the company’s Llama 4 language model had its benchmark results manipulated before its April 2025 release. In an interview with the Financial Times, LeCun said the “results were fudged a little bit” and that the team “used different models for different benchmarks to give better results.”

Llama 4 was widely criticized as a flop at launch, and the company faced accusations of gaming benchmarks to make the model appear more capable than it was. LeCun said CEO Mark Zuckerberg was “really upset and basically lost confidence in everyone who was involved” in the release.

Zuckerberg subsequently “sidelined the entire GenAI organisation,” according to LeCun. “A lot of people have left, a lot of people who haven’t yet left will leave.” LeCun himself is departing Meta after more than a decade to start a new AI research venture called Advanced Machine Intelligence Labs. He described the new hires brought in for Meta’s superintelligence efforts as “completely LLM-pilled” — a technology LeCun has repeatedly called “a dead end when it comes to superintelligence.”

Kroah-Hartman: Linux kernel security work

Greg Kroah-Hartman has written an
overview of how the kernel’s security team works
.

The members of the security team contain a handful of core kernel
developers that have experience dealing with security bugs, and
represent different major subsystems of the kernel. They do this
work as individuals, and specifically can NOT tell their employer,
or anyone else, anything that is discussed on the security alias
before it is resolved. This arrangement has allowed the kernel
security team to remain independent and continue to operate across
the different governments that the members operate in, and it looks
to become the normal way project security teams work with the
advent of the European Union’s new CRA law coming into effect.

New Linux Patches Allow More Easily Changing The Tux Kernel Boot Logo

A new patch series that was posted this week allow for users to more easily replace the default kernel boot logo. After half a decade, the Russian space station segment stopped leaking

A small section of the International Space Station that has experienced persistent leaks for years appears to have stopped venting atmosphere into space.

The leaks were caused by microscopic structural cracks are inside the small PrK module on the Russian segment of the space station, which lies between a Progress spacecraft airlock and the Zvezda module. The problem has been a long-running worry for Russian and US operators of the station, especially after the rate of leakage doubled in 2024. This prompted NASA officials to label the leak as a “high likelihood” and “high consequence” risk.

However, recently two sources indicated that the leaks have stopped. And NASA has now confirmed this.
