What is possibly the first drone-linked aircraft crash in the U.S. is being investigated in South Carolina. A student pilot and his instructor were flying a helicopter when according to both a small drone appeared directly in front of them. A collision with the drone was avoided when the instructor took over the controls and then the tail rotor struck a tree causing a crash landing. If true, it shows how idiots keep us from having nice things.
The accident investigation is the second incident involving a drone in less than a week and comes as aviation groups are demanding tighter regulations on civilian drone use following reports of other possible near collisions involving the devices.
