In a recent interview with Fox News, Bill Gates revealed that he has switched to an Android-based smartphone: “Recently, I actually did switch to an Android phone with a lot of Microsoft software.” It isn’t too surprising that he chose Android over iOS, as the former offers more Windows-like customization features.
It’s not clear what Android phone it is that Gates uses as his daily driver, but one could assume that it’s the Microsoft Edition of the Samsung Galaxy S8 that Microsoft launched this year. That phone has long been available at Microsoft’s many retail stores and ships with lots of Microsoft software pre-loaded. Gates’ choosing of the Android ecosystem seems to suit him well, considering Android essentially cloned the Microsoft model he helped create.
