Job listings spotted at LinkedIn suggest Samsung is working on an in-house GPU for its Exynos chipsets. While AMD and NVIDIA were initially sought as potential suppliers, the electronics giant is pulling their talent instead to design an alternative to ARM’s Mali GPU.



Samsung aims to build flagship GPUs but will start from the more affordable segment so that it can gain experience. The second-gen GPUs should go into high-end phones along with other applications — self-driving cars and machine learning.
