New Non-Gaming AMD Video Card at Best Buy – NVIDIA GPP

We have worked very closely with MSI for about two decades now, and MSI is usually very enthusiastic when it is rolling out new video card branding, but we have never heard of this new brand of AMD GPU video card. If fact, there is not much on the box at all, except to say “graphics card,” and “OC Edition.” The card inside, according to the Best Buy graphic, is only labeled “AIR BOOST.” We are well aware that gaming branded video cards outsell non-gaming brands, so it seems very odd that a Vega 56 would simply be for normal desktop usage.

If I were to go out on a limb here, it is almost as if AMD GPUs are being shut out of MSI’s gaming branding. And if I were to go further, and put on my tinfoil hat, I might even be as bold to suggest that this change has something to do with this GeForce Partner Program Impacts Consumer Choice article. This would seem to strengthen what we reported here on GPP as well. Thanks @cageymaru.

EDIT: It was noted in our forums that this card was talked about in December of 2017, but at that time, no box branding was revealed. And of course GPP is all about how these products are seen on shelves through the eyes of consumers.
