NVIDIA's 397.31 GeForce Drivers Are Causing a PC Reset Loop for Some Users

A number of NVIDIA forum members are reporting that the latest GeForce drivers do not install properly. Users are being asked to restart their systems after running the setup, but the same dialog repeats itself and the driver never successfully installs. Many of those affected are GTX 1060 owners.

In addition, it appears that the driver update prompt is being offered on systems that are no longer supported, where it fails with “installation cannot continue,” which appears to be a whole new issue on card detection and eligibility.
