The Archstone Recovery Center of the Palm Beaches has an interesting look at drug use in video games entitled “Game Overdose.” They even include this handy cheat sheet (pictured below) that will let you know if the drugs you are doing in a video are real or not. This should at least keep you from getting bitch slapped by your local dealer when asking to purchase some Skooma or Neuropozyme. All joking aside, the article is actually an interesting read, and don’t worry, it is heavy on infographics, just in case you are too hammered to read.



How are drugs portrayed in video games? To explore this interesting issue, we examined the 100 bestselling games for each console and then zoomed in on those that include drug references. What types of substances are featured in America’s favorite games? Which genres include the most games with drug references? Are these drugs real or fictionalized? And how do they affect gameplay?
