YouTube is Cracking Down On "Tide Pod Challenge" Videos

YouTube has released a statement in response to people posting videos of themselves eating laundry detergent. In an article from FastCompany, YouTube states:

“YouTube’s Community Guidelines prohibit content that’s intended to encourage dangerous activities that have an inherent risk of physical harm. We work to quickly remove flagged videos that violate our policies.”

I guess Darwin has been foiled again! The article also states that the content is being removed only after being flagged by users. In addition to YouTube and P&G, the Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a statement stating “A meme should not become a family tragedy. Don’t eat poison.”

In an earlier statement of its own, P&G said it was working with “leading social media sites” to encourage the removal of videos that violate their polices.
