Over at PCI-SIG, the standards body that oversees PCI Express technologies, there is a new Promontory 400 series platform listed, presumably for the upcoming refresh of Ryzen processors codenamed Pinnacle Ridge. This chipset is expected to offer double the performance with its PCIe 3.0 interface.
The refresh of the first-generation Ryzen is currently expected in the first quarter next year. Although new CPUs will certainly be compatible with 300-series motherboards, AMD is giving a chance for their partners to refresh their motherboard offerings with the X470, B450, A420 series.
