Engineers at Columbia Engineering have developed a new technology that allows floating solar powered rigs to produce hydrogen gas for fuel. This new technology has a unique electrolysis method that doesn’t require a membrane to keep the oxygen and hydrogen seperated. Also, it allows the rig to use seawater instead of highly filitered/purified water that current methods require. If this method can be scaled up then hydrogen fueled cars may be the wave of the future. Check out the video below to see how their electrolysis works compared to older methods.
