Reuters reports that security software company Symantec will no longer allow any governments to checkout the source code (warning autostart video) for its software stemming from the fear of the products being compromised. Its CEO, Greg Clark says “code reviews pose [an] unacceptable risk” and not worth the potential lost in business due to losing their customer’s confidence.
Symantec’s decision has been praised by some western cyber security experts, who said the company bucked a growing trend in recent years that has seen other companies accede to demands to share source code.
