As reported by Tech Crunch, the VR company is putting in place a proper channel for customers to get refunds for content that did not meet their expectations. Only on the condition that the content was purchased within the last two weeks and the customer have not used it longer than 2 hours for Oculus Rift content. Samsung Gear VR content has a restriction of not exceeding a playtime of 30 minutes and purchased withing 3 days. The refund does not include movies, bundles and in-app purchases.
This is part of the company’s recent updates designed to “make VR more intuitive and enjoyable.” Other updates include an Oculus Library to manage all your content and easier installs to make the VR experience seamless and fun. More details can be had at this blog post.
People have been saying VR has a problem with content quantity and quality, and while the former definitely appears to be getting solved as time goes on, the latter is a bit trickier. It isn’t in anybody’s best interest for people to download a game, have an awful experience and then grow discouraged from investing in future content. For Oculus, the content team has to get people comfortable with paying for high quality stuff.
