Brussels-based gamer and software/hardware developer Ilhan Unal has entered the Guinness World Records 2018 Gamer’s Edition for creating the Largest Game Boy: the monster machine is fully functional, with everything running off a Raspberry Pi hidden in the oversized external connector socket.
Approximately 6.75 times the size of the classic Nintendo Game Boy, it has a volume of 120 liters — which is about two times the volume of an average human body! The device itself measures to be 1.01 m tall, 0.62 m wide and 0.2 meters deep, making for one grand dose of gaming fun. According to Ilhan, making the Game Boy XXL was a huge challenge. He had to work around his studies and coursework, using any free time to construct the Game Boy at the school laboratory where there was limited space and resources.
