AMD, GlobalFoundries, and Tesla in Talks and Tests

Jim Keller is a god among men when it comes to the PC enthusiast crowd, and while his departure from AMD was met with many a frown, it looks as though his knowledge of new Zen architecture CPUs might work out well for AMD and GloFlo. NVIDIA is currently supplying Tesla with processors for its cars, but it looks as though AMD is going to get its shot. Who knows if AMD can come close to pulling in Tesla business from NVIDIA, but if AMD did, it would be the coup of the year for sure…or at least a quarter. Thanks cageymaru.

Tesla is building its own A.I. processor using technology from AMD, reports CNBC, citing remarks by AMD’s partner in manufacturing, GlobalFoundries. That may be competition for chips already being supplied to Tesla by Nvidia.

Here are a couple videos we make many years ago when we were in the GloFlo fabs during contruction: GlobalFoundries ITDC Fab 8 – GLOBALFOUNDRIES – Building Fab 8
