Even though it has been several years since Sammy the Satellite first blessed our lives, his message is still very relevant. All while this heartwarming character brings with it a loving warmth and humanness, it cannot be allowed to distract us from the real problem at large. Some company’s old space junk is going to crash into something soon, and likely take out a DirecTV satellite and keep me from seeing a football game. This must be stopped, and the Brane Craft Phase II is wanting to make this a reality. The basis of the idea is to wrap old space junk up in aluminum foil and hurtle those back towards the Earth, in the general direction of Australia, and hope those burn up before hitting the ground. Thanks Peter.
Think of the latest idea of collecting space junk as something akin to a hungry tiger pouncing on its prey. Aerospace Corporation says its Brane Craft will wrap itself around debris orbiting Earth and drag it back down through the atmosphere, causing it to burn up and never again threaten satellites or astronauts.
