Steam’s latest hardware report is showing negligible growth for Windows 10: the user base fell to 50.48% in July but only grew .17% last month. Windows 7, however, grew in market share, climbing from 36.99% to 38.13%. All other versions of Windows faced declines.
There were no changes in the hardware side of the report with 8GB of system RAM still the most-used configuration. The display resolution for primary displays and multi-monitor setups remained 1920×1080 and 3840×1080 respectively. It is important to remember that the statistics presented in Steam’s monthly report are dependent upon optional surveys, so any changes in the user base of a particular software or hardware wouldn’t necessarily represent a shift in broader usage beyond the Steam gaming community.
