Researchers Find A Way to Make Lithium Batteries Safer by Adding Diamonds

Say goodbye to exploding laptops and Samsung devices. Researchers from Drexel university have found the recipe to help make lithium-ion batteries much safer. When using a battery will build-up with dendrites which causes a short-circuit leading to malfunction of the battery as the electrolyte solutions used are highly flammable. By injecting the nanodiamonds, dendrite formations can be eliminated. This has the potential to be a huge game changer and hopefully leads to less accidents.

If you think about it like a game of Tetris, that pile of mismatched blocks inching perilously close to “game over” is the equivalent of a dendrite. Adding nanodiamonds to the mix is kind of like using a cheat code that slides each new block into the proper place to complete a line and prevent a menacing tower from forming.
