Beginning August 31st, the online sales behemoth Amazon is requesting sellers of physical media to find a faster way for the merchants to deliver its packages. This new policy is part of an effort to bring the same speed and quality of service expected by all of Amazon’s customers. Last week, we saw Amazon demand third-party merchants to offer the same refund policy the company has established throughout the years. The move will only worsen the situation for merchants as many are already operating on razor-thin margins. Of course, this would also possibly lead to higher shipment costs because as we know buyers usually bear the costs of the increase in doing business.
“We are launching new capabilities to help you set faster delivery times for your Seller fulfilled products. Customers are more likely to purchase products that have a faster estimated delivery time at checkout,” the company said in an email to sellers that was obtained by CNBC.
