Alphabet's X.Company Launches Glass Enterprise Edition

Apparently, more than 50 companies, which include GE Aviation, The Boeing Company, and Volkswagen, have all taken a liking to the device and found that it helps them get work done faster than ever before. The latest version, appropriately dubbed “Glass Enterprise Edition,” features customized software, higher power, and is lighter to wear.

Workers in many fields, like manufacturing, logistics, field services, and healthcare find it useful to consult a wearable device for information and other resources while their hands are busy. That’s why we’ve spent the last two years working closely with a network of more than 30 expert partners to build customized software and business solutions for Glass for people in these fields. We’ve also made improvements to the design and hardware so that it’s lightweight and comfortable for long term wear. We’ve increased the power and battery life too.

Discussion

7/18/17 – 245PM CDT: We have gotten a mail from a Communications Manager at x.company this afternoon expressing how exactly this product is to be referred to. Apparently x.company wants to make sure that no one thinks that this product has anything to do with “Google Glass,” which frankly, we fully understand.

Hi there,

I’d like to request a couple corrections in your article about Glass on Hard|OCP.

The device is called “Glass Enterprise Edition” or just “Glass” — not “Google Glass”.
To clarify, Glass Enterprise Edition is not the same product as the Explorer Edition. It is a different, newer device featuring customized, industry-specific software applications and improved hardware. (Read more on our press website).

For accuracy, could you please remove references to “Google Glass” in your story and change them to the correct name — “Glass Enterprise Edition” or “Glass”?

Also, the announcement actually was made today by X (not Google). Could you update your headline to show that the announcement was made by X or Alphabet’s X (not Google? ) ?

Please let me know if you have any questions, and thanks for your help.

Julie
