Middle market private equity firm EagleTree Capital is in advanced discussions to acquire Corsair. Sources say that the deal will be worth $500 million; the decision was prompted by the increasing interest in eSports. As you are probably aware, the company is known for their cases, coolers, peripherals, high-performance gaming equipment, and so on.
The sources asked not to be named because the matter is private. Corsair and EagleTree declined to comment. Corsair is currently owned by Chief Executive Andy Paul, who founded the company in 1994. Francisco Partners made a $75 million investment in the company in 2013 after the company scrapped its IPO plans. Francisco did not respond to requests for comment. Based in Freemont, California, Corsair makes high performance gaming equipment, USB flash drives, gaming keyboards, mice and headsets. It owns popular PC gaming brand Raptor Gaming, which it acquired in 2012.
