Within 2 to 3 years, Google Earth may become the cesspool that is Yelp or any of the other location-based tagging platforms — or maybe not. Google wants to allow users to post their stories, video and photos on Google Earth. During an event in Brazil promoting its new Voyager feature in Google Earth that let’s you take a tour of certain locales, Google Earth Director Rebecca Moore, told Reuters about the plan to have people share stories of anything and everything about their communities. This might be a starry-eyed idea, but don’t put it pass folks to share gossipy stories of their peeping neighbors or lonely house wife.




“Google Earth is our gift to the world,” she told Reuters. “In terms of budget, Google has nice revenue from advertising, and not everything Google does has to make money.”
