It looks like the Dutch are lining up behind the Mexico, UK, Amazon, and Ebay when it comes to selling set-top boxes loaded with Kodi and third-party addons that allow for the streaming of copyrighted content. At least in this situation we see it trying to be reeled in by cutting off the source rather than trying to put the end-user in jail or in the middle of a bunch of lawyers.
Dutch anti-piracy group BREIN is reporting that 200 entities selling ‘pirate’ media players have ceased trading recently. The development appears to be a direct result of an April 2017 ruling by the European Court of Justice, which found that selling piracy-configured devices is a breach of copyright law.
