The last Thief game wasn’t received well, but producers of the upcoming movie ( wait, there’s going to be a Thief movie? ) claim that someone is going to give it another go. I never did get far in the reboot, since I was obsessed about collecting everything but eventually couldn’t bear to be subjected to those repeated animations any longer. If this report is actually true, I would be surprised, since Square Enix seems to have no problem canning anything that isn’t super successful.



Publisher Square Enix hasn’t announced anything regarding the Thief video game franchise in some time. The last game in the stealth series, simply called Thief, hit PCs and consoles back in 2014. It was intended as a reboot after a 10-year hiatus, but received a mixed reaction from critics. Eidos Montreal reportedly said that another sequel would come based on how Thief was received just before the fourth game launched; the developer hasn’t spoken about a fifth Thief game since.
