TUTORIAL – Easily Swap PS3 Firmwares Without USB

To do this you MUST install QA Flag Extra, just using Rebug’s debug menu will not work 100% in some cases

1. Enable QA Flag Extra and go to the debug settings and enable “System Update Debug
2. Use Multiman’s file manager(or other) and create a folder in
/dev_hdd0 called “updater“, so it’s /dev_hdd0/updater/
3. Create folders in that directory for the firmwares called 01, 02, 03, ect.
(Dont miss a number or leave empty else it will error).
4. Copy whichever PS3UPDAT.PUP into one of those folders and……..
5. Rename it to whatever you want, you dont even need the .PUP at the end.
Note like: “PS3 (CEX) REBUG 3.55.4 999 DOWNGRADER.PUP” , “PS3 (CEX) REBUG 4.81.1 REX.PUP” , etc…
6. From PS3 XMB go to “Settings” XMB menu, choose “Network” (Don’t go into it);
Button combo input (L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 + L3 (press down left stick) + D-pad Down)
7. From PS3 XMB go to “Settings” XMB menu, choose “Debug settings” – system update debug – on
8. Go to the “Settings” XMB menu, choose “System Update”
9. Choose “Update via System Storage”

Note: “Update via System Storage” will be grayed out if the number folders are empty within “/dev_hdd0/updater/

If the number folders are empty within “/dev_hdd0/updater/; 4 options are:
“Update via Internet” (Greyed out)
“Update via Storage Media” (Selectable)
*Update via System Storage (Greyed out)
*Delete Update Data on System Storage (Greyed out)

Note: If you swap from 4.xx to 3.xx CFW you will get a prompt to format PS3 HDD before you can proceed to log into PS3
