The following post contains spoilers from the trailer. You have been warned!

With just two months to go before it hits our local multiplex, we got our closest look yet at Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first proper (not counting Caravan of Courage and Battle for Endor) standalone movie in the Star Wars universe, thanks to the release on Thursday morning of a new trailer. Looking at times like a mashup between John Le Carre and the Seven Samurai in space, Rogue One takes place in the lead-up to Episode IV. It’s the story of Jyn Erso (played by Felicity Jones) and her role in stealing the plans to a new Imperial super-weapon—one that you might already know as the Death Star.

The second full trailer clues us in to Erso’s backstory; as a child, her father (played by Mads Mikkelsen) is the man ordered—at gunpoint, it seems—by the Empire to create the planet-buster. The next time we see her, she’s an adult, rotting in Imperial custody. Broken out by the Rebellion, she’s recruited in its fight against the Emperor and Darth Vader, who also makes a cameo toward the end.
