Scientists have discovered that when the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai volcano erupted on January 15, 2022, its effects reached the edge of space. The effects were detected after analyzing data from NASA’s Ionospheric Connection Explorer, or ICON, mission and the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Swarm satellites.
