Models like the EQS and EQE haven&#8217;t convinced the brand&#8217;s demanding clientele that batteries are the future, forcing the company to <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/cars\/2024\/02\/mercedes-benz-scales-back-electric-ambitions-as-ev-pessimism-grows\/\">scale back<\/a> its electric ambitions.<\/p>\n<p>Scale back, but not abandon. Benz is about to launch a new generation of EVs relying on technology derived from the epically efficient <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/cars\/2022\/07\/we-test-an-electric-mercedes-that-can-can-go-747-miles-on-a-single-charge\/\">EQXX<\/a>. The first is the new CLA.
