Game Freak dropped a surprise trailer<\/a> at today\u2019s Pok\u00e9mon Presents livestream<\/a> for something called Pok\u00e9mon Champions<\/em>. It\u2019s a dedicated battle sim, recalling the glory days of Pok\u00e9mon Stadium<\/em> for the N64. This means that Champions<\/em> distills the franchise’s formula down to just battling, with a heavy emphasis on multiplayer.<\/p>\n

To that end, the game is cross-platform, with the developer saying that players on \u201cNintendo Switch and mobile\u201d will be able to duke it out. We don\u2019t know what kind of roster the game itself will provide, but it integrates with the cloud-storage service Pok\u00e9mon Home<\/em>. People should be able to pull most of their favorite Pok\u00e9mon from titles like Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em> and recent mainline entries like Pok\u00e9mon Sword<\/em> and Shield<\/em>. It also works with the spin-off Pok\u00e9mon Legends: Arceus<\/em><\/a>. The official press release, however, does note that there will be some restrictions when it comes to availability<\/a>.<\/p>\n
