Niantic, the company behind Pok\u00e9mon Go (2016)<\/em>, is reportedly in talks with\u00a0Saudi Arabia-owned Scopely to sell its gaming division.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

According to a Bloomberg<\/em> <\/a>report citing people familiar with the talks, the report maintains the companies are currently discussing a $3.5 billion acquisition price, which could conclude in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

This would include the transfer of Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em>\u00a0in addition to Niantic\u2019s other mobile games, such as\u00a0Monster Hunter Now<\/em>\u00a0and Pikmin Bloom.<\/em><\/p>\n

Niantic is also known for\u00a0Harry Potter: Wizards Unite,\u00a0<\/em>which attempted to replicate the success of\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon Go,\u00a0<\/em>but critically failed, forcing the company to shut down development in 2022.<\/p>\n

Provided the sale goes through, this would leave the San Francisco-based Niantic to focus on its growing list of AR development platforms and geo-spatial mapping tools.<\/p>\n

In May 2022, Niantic launched its Lightship Visual Positioning System<\/a>,\u00a0which forms an underlying 3D map of the world so AR devices can share the same frame of reference, even on massive scales.<\/p>\n
