This latest release adds image analysis and simulated reasoning capabilities to the platform&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/information-technology\/2024\/03\/elon-musks-xai-releases-grok-source-and-weights-taunting-openai\/\">existing text-<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/information-technology\/2024\/08\/musks-new-grok-upgrade-allows-x-users-to-create-largely-uncensored-ai-images\/\">image-generation tools<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Grok 3&#8217;s release comes after the model went through months of training in <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/information-technology\/2024\/07\/elon-musk-claims-he-is-training-the-worlds-most-powerful-ai-by-every-metric\/\">xAI&#8217;s Memphis data center<\/a> containing a reported 200,000 GPUs. During a livestream presentation on Monday, Musk <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1875357350393246114\">echoed previous social media posts<\/a> describing Grok 3 as using 10 times more computing power than <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/information-technology\/2024\/08\/musks-new-grok-upgrade-allows-x-users-to-create-largely-uncensored-ai-images\/\">Grok 2<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Since news of Grok 3&#8217;s imminent arrival <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/artificial-intelligence\/elon-musk-says-grok-3-final-stages-outperforming-all-chatbots-2025-02-13\/\">emerged<\/a> last week, Musk has wasted no time <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1891112681538523215\">showing<\/a> how he may intend to use Grok as a tool to represent his worldview in AI form. On Sunday he posted &#8220;Grok 3 is so based&#8221; alongside a screenshot that purportedly asks Grok 3 for its opinion on the news publication called The Information.
