{"id":1215143,"date":"2025-02-07T14:23:51","date_gmt":"2025-02-07T19:23:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.prime-wow.com\/?p=1215143"},"modified":"2025-02-07T14:23:51","modified_gmt":"2025-02-07T19:23:51","slug":"doge-cant-use-student-loan-data-to-dismantle-the-education-dept-lawsuit-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.prime-wow.com\/?p=1215143","title":{"rendered":"DOGE can\u2019t use student loan data to dismantle the Education Dept., lawsuit says"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Department of Education (DOE) was <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.arstechnica.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/UC-Student-Association-v-DOE-Complaint-2-7-25.pdf\">sued<\/a> Friday by a California student association demanding an &#8220;immediate stop&#8221; to Elon Musk&#8217;s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) &#8220;unlawfully&#8221; digging through student loan data to potentially dismantle DOE.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;The scale of the intrusion into individuals\u2019 privacy is enormous and unprecedented,&#8221; the lawsuit said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the University of California Student Association (UCSA)\u2014which has over 230,000 undergraduate students as members\u2014more than 42 million people in the US have federal student loans and face privacy risks, if DOGE&#8217;s access to their information isn&#8217;t blocked.
