Trump sued Twitter arguing that his First Amendment rights were violated after he was <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:4;pos:1\" class=\"no-affiliate-link\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.x.com\/en_us\/topics\/company\/2020\/suspension\" data-original-link=\"https:\/\/blog.x.com\/en_us\/topics\/company\/2020\/suspension\"><ins>banned<\/ins><\/a> from the social media platform \u201cdue to the risk of further incitement of violence\u201d in the wake of the January 6 riot at the Capitol. A judge <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:5;pos:1\" class=\"no-affiliate-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/federal-judge-dismisses-trump-lawsuit-twitter-120654477.html\" data-original-link=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/federal-judge-dismisses-trump-lawsuit-twitter-120654477.html\"><ins>dismissed his lawsuit the following year<\/ins><\/a>, but Trump later appealed the decision.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, Twitter has since been taken over by Elon Musk and renamed X, and Musk has become a key Trump ally in the president\u2019s second term. There are no further details in the motion about the decision to dismiss.
