In an email to Ars, Thiel warned that &#8220;the inclusion of child abuse material in AI model training data teaches tools to associate children in illicit sexual activity and uses known child abuse images to generate new, potentially realistic child abuse content.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Thiel began his research in September after discovering <a href=\"https:\/\/cyber.fsi.stanford.edu\/io\/news\/ml-csam-report\">in June<\/a> that AI image generators were being used to create <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/tech-policy\/2023\/06\/thousands-of-realistic-but-fake-ai-child-sex-images-found-online-report-says\/\">thousands of fake but realistic AI child sex images<\/a> rapidly spreading on the dark web.
