The deadline to do this was previously until the <a data-i13n=\"cpos:1;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/google-stadia-controller-bluetooth-unlock-214830717.html\"><ins>end of this year<\/ins><\/a>, but Google is now extending it to December 31, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Google <a data-i13n=\"cpos:2;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/google-shutting-down-stadia-162704135.html\"><ins>axed<\/ins><\/a> Stadia, its cloud gaming service, at the beginning of this year. Most customers who bought digital games through the Google Store got <a data-i13n=\"cpos:3;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/products\/stadia\/message-on-stadia-streaming-strategy\/\"><ins>refunds<\/ins><\/a>, but some physical hardware such as Stadia\u2019s controller that connected directly to WiFi, is still out there. Enabling Bluetooth on Stadia controllers will let people use them with any other devices such as PCs, Macs, phones or tablets. This, as Kotaku <a data-i13n=\"cpos:4;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/kotaku.com\/google-stadia-controller-bluetooth-update-switch-1851109114\"><ins>points out<\/ins><\/a>, could prevent e-waste.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"end-legacy-contents\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Switching your controller to Bluetooth is permanent. It takes about three minutes and requires a USB cable, <a data-i13n=\"cpos:5;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/stadia.google.com\/controller\/\"><ins>according<\/ins><\/a> to Google. To pair a <a data-i13n=\"cpos:6;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/google-stadia-controller-bluetooth-unlock-214830717.html\"><ins>Stadia controller<\/ins><\/a> to Bluetooth, you need to press and hold the Y and Stadia button for at least two seconds. You\u2019ll know that the controller has entered \u201cpairing mode\u201d when the status light flashes orange.
