You\u2019ll need to sign up for a free account and sit through some ads\u2014and some movies are only available in SD, which isn\u2019t great\u2014but you\u2019ll get access to more than 5,400 movies on your computer, phone or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vudu.com\/content\/movies\/services\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\">streaming device<\/a>. You\u2019ll find a lot of films from the \u201880s and \u201890s (as the rights to supply them have gotten cheaper), as well as a ton of stuff you\u2019ve never heard of before (mostly that, to be honest). Movies are grouped by categories, including specific themes like \u201cLGBTQ Cinema\u201d and \u201cPopcorn Movie Summer.\u201d The service is owned by ViacomCBS, so a lot of the content <a href=\"https:\/\/lifehacker.com\/10-reasons-paramount-is-a-streaming-tv-paradise-1846408580\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"open in a new window\">mirrors what you\u2019ll find on Paramount+<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Current top on demand selections include all of the <em>Hunger Games<\/em> films, the original <em>RoboCop<\/em>, the early 2000s <em>Charlie\u2019s Angels<\/em> movies, and the Scarlet Johansson-starring adaptation of the <em>Ghost in the Shell<\/em> anime, which I have been meaning to watch\u2014and doing so via a free streaming services that peppers its programming with ads seems like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/ghost_in_the_shell_2017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\">more or less what the movie deserves<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p>Supported devices: <\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Public Domain Torrents<\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019d rather download than stream, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.publicdomaintorrents.info\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\"><strong>Public Domain Torrents<\/strong><\/a> is the place to go. As you\u2019d expect, most of the films you\u2019ll find are pretty old, but many are also stone-cold cinema classics. There are some nice hidden gems here, in addition to a grab-bag of popular (if aging) Hollywood films; one of the current \u201cMost Popular\u201d entries is <em>Memory: The Origins of Alien<\/em>, a feature-length doc about the creation of Ridley Scott\u2019s horror classic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Supported devices: <\/strong>Apps are available for Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, and most smart TVs.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Crackle<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crackle.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\"><strong>Crackle<\/strong><\/a> is often overlooked when people discuss free streaming media on the web, but you can grab this service for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crackle.com\/outreach\/platforms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\">a number of mobile devices and set-top boxes<\/a>. You have to sign up for an account, but once you do, it\u2019s easy to create a watchlist, get recommendations for new shows to stream and browse Crackle\u2019s full library of TV shows and movies. These the films <em>Charlie\u2019s Angels, Black Snake Moan, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles<\/em> (2014), and TV series like <em>That Girl!<\/em>, <em>21 Jump Street,<\/em> and<em> 3rd Rock From the Sun. <\/em>That\u2019s part of the beauty of Crackle: You\u2019ll absolutely find movies you\u2019ve heard of, shows you actually want to watch and more. While it offers paid live TV streaming, there\u2019s a bunch of free content too\u2014but you <em>have<\/em> to watch ads to view any of its free content. Still, the convenience of being able to view free movies and TV along with anything from your (or your friends\u2019) media servers, all in one place and on any device, is pretty great. It\u2019s also ideal for people who want the freedom and flexibility of a mobile-friendly, HD-capable upload service that has great privacy and video management controls, as well as an upbeat community of users. While you probably know it for the ever-useful <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/web\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\">Wayback Machine<\/a>, it\u2019s also great for public domain films, independent media, TV broadcasts and newsreels and other media that you\u2019re free watch\u2014and to use and remix on your own, if you want. There are plenty of movies\u2014organized by categories like sci-fi, horror or film noir\u2014in addition to art films, educational videos and films, special collections that were made available to the Internet Archive for posterity, documentaries and even collections of stock footage. It\u2019s not the most easily browsable archive, nor is it organized for mobile screens, but it\u2019s certainly a treasure trove of interesting material.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Supported devices:<\/strong> This one is browser only, but you can cast to your TV with a compatible device.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Fandor<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fandor.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\"><strong>Fandor<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>is a subscription streaming service that offers a diverse catalog of independent and international films.
