However, you may have to wait a while before buying one, as Cadillac says we won\u2019t hear more about the Optiq (including its full specs) until 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The Optiq will continue Cadillac\u2019s naming convention of ending its EVs\u2019 names with some form of \u201cIQ.\u201d In addition to the <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:2;pos:1\" class=\"no-affiliate-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/cadillac-lyric-suv-ev-first-drive-video-130014787.html\" data-original-link=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/cadillac-lyric-suv-ev-first-drive-video-130014787.html\">Lyriq<\/a>, other examples include the <a data-i13n=\"cpos:3;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/cadillacs-first-escalade-ev-has-a-450-mile-range-and-starts-at-130000-182816273.html\">Escalade IQ<\/a> and <a data-i13n=\"cpos:4;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/cadillac-celestiq-ev-features-price-release-date-010058818.html\">Celestiq<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"end-legacy-contents\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Although Cadillac hasn\u2019t explicitly stated so, the Optiq will likely use <a data-i13n=\"cpos:5;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/general-motors-ultium-battery-more-than-ev-gm-energy-100022884.html\">GM\u2019s Ultium battery platform<\/a>. <em>Road and Driver<\/em> <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:6;pos:1\" class=\"no-affiliate-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.caranddriver.com\/news\/a45838096\/2025-cadillac-optiq-revealed\/\" data-original-link=\"https:\/\/www.caranddriver.com\/news\/a45838096\/2025-cadillac-optiq-revealed\/\">speculates<\/a> that since Cadillac\u2019s SUV is similar in size to the <a data-i13n=\"cpos:7;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/chevy-blazer-equinox-ev-teaser-184112130.html\">Chevy Equinox EV<\/a>, it could have similar specs. That model is allegedly 189.8 inches long, 75.3 inches wide and 64.6 inches tall. That would make it around 2.5 inches narrower and seven inches shorter (in length) than the Lyriq. The China model is listed as weighing 4.850 lbs with a top speed of 112 mph.
