We all knew it was just a matter of time before one of the world\u2019s richest and most controversial men would get the biopic treatment and now it\u2019s happening. Elon Musk is getting his very own movie, helmed by acclaimed director Darron Aronofsky and produced by A24, as originally reported by the <\/ins>Variety.<\/ins><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

The film\u2019s going to be based on Walter Isaacson\u2019s authorized biography,<\/ins><\/a> which has received its share of unfavorable reviews, with outlets like the <\/ins>Los Angeles Times<\/ins><\/em><\/a> suggesting the author \u201cmostly accepts Musk\u2019s confident prognostications as gospel\u201d and The Guardian<\/ins><\/em> calling it<\/ins><\/a> an \u201cinsight-free doorstop.\u201d Not all reviews were that dire, of course, but many point to Isaacson\u2019s book as being a clear example of the perils of access journalism.<\/p>\n

Isaacson also wrote a biography on Steve Jobs, which was adapted into the 2015 film starring Michael Fassbender and directed by Danny Boyle. This movie ended up being an incredibly loose adaptation of Isaacson\u2019s book, so we\u2019ll see what Aronofsky does with the material. If anyone can put their personal stamp on things, it\u2019s the director behind Mother!, The Whale, Requiem for a Dream<\/em> and Black Swan.<\/em><\/p>\n

This film\u2019s still in early development, so there\u2019s no writer attached yet and there have been no casting announcements. In a recent Reddit thread, commenters’ top-voted casting picks for Musk were Nicolas Cage, Rami Malek, Jesse Eisenberg and Robert Downey Jr, as collated by <\/ins>Variety.<\/ins><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n
