Either the FCC does not have sufficient legal tools to stop these unwanted and illegal calls, or it has not yet determined how to deploy those tools effectively,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commerce.senate.gov\/services\/files\/92F8E35B-F203-49FD-BA53-E9F8816A19F2\">said<\/a> Margot Freeman Saunders, senior counsel for the National Consumer Law Center.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commerce.senate.gov\/2023\/10\/protecting-americans-from-robocalls\">hearing on robocalls<\/a> was held by the Commerce Committee&#8217;s Subcommittee on Communications, Media, and Broadband. Senator Ben Ray Luj\u00e1n (D-N.M.), the subcommittee chair, said that FCC enforcement is ineffective and that Congress should give the agency more power.
