But glibc also<br \/>\nprovides a &#8220;tunables&#8221; interface to control how the library operates; rather<br \/>\nthan being managed by a C API, tunables are set with the<br \/>\n<tt>GLIBC_TUNABLES<\/tt> environment<br \/>\nvariable.  Glibc tunables have been a part of a few security problems<br \/>\ninvolving setuid binaries, most recently the <a href=\"https:\/\/lwn.net\/ml\/oss-security\/20231003175031.GA16924@localhost.localdomain\/\">&#8220;Looney<br \/>\nTunables&#8221; bug<\/a> disclosed at the beginning of October.
