Gurman had previously predicted that a MacBook Air featuring the new chip <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:2;pos:1\" class=\"no-affiliate-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/apples-first-m3-macs-could-arrive-in-october-163204526.html\" data-original-link=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/apples-first-m3-macs-could-arrive-in-october-163204526.html\">might see an October launch<\/a>, but he now says it seems to be shaping up for a release between next spring and summer \u201cat the earliest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the latest installment of his <em>Power On<\/em> newsletter, Gurman reports that the 13-inch and 15-inch M3 MacBook Airs are now in the engineering verification test (EVT) stage. M3 MacBook Pros, on the other hand, are further along in the process and \u201cnearing mass production.\u201d According to Gurman, \u201cThe 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with M3 Pro and M3 Max chips have reached the DVT stage \u2014 short for design validation test.\u201d This puts them on track for release \u201cbetween early and spring 2024,\u201d he notes. Apple released its 2023 MacBook Pros with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips in January.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"end-legacy-contents\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Gurman\u2019s report also contradicts rumors from this weekend that Apple will introduce new iPads this week. <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:3;pos:1\" class=\"no-affiliate-link\" href=\"https:\/\/superchargednews.com\/2023\/10\/14\/apple-launching-new-ipads-this-week\/\" data-original-link=\"https:\/\/superchargednews.com\/2023\/10\/14\/apple-launching-new-ipads-this-week\/\"><em>Supercharged<\/em><\/a><em>\u00a0<\/em>and <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:4;pos:1\" class=\"no-affiliate-link\" href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2023\/10\/15\/apple-to-announce-new-ipad-models-this-week-featuring-upgraded-chips\/\" data-original-link=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2023\/10\/15\/apple-to-announce-new-ipad-models-this-week-featuring-upgraded-chips\/\"><em>9to5Mac<\/em><\/a> reported that the iPad Air and iPad mini are getting chip upgrades, with the former adopting the M2 chip and the mini upgrading to A16 Bionic.
