Actor Mi\u0142ogost Reczek voiced the character Viktor Vektor in the Polish version of the game and would have been tapped to reprise the role for the DLC, which came out last month, but he died in 2021 before its production. The developer told <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:1;pos:1\" class=\"no-affiliate-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-10-12\/video-game-cyberpunk-2077-uses-ai-to-replace-deceased-voice-actor?leadSource=uverify%20wall&amp;sref=10lNAhZ9\" data-original-link=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-10-12\/video-game-cyberpunk-2077-uses-ai-to-replace-deceased-voice-actor?leadSource=uverify%20wall&amp;sref=10lNAhZ9\"><em>Bloomberg<\/em><\/a> it decided to go this route as a way to \u201cpay tribute to his wonderful performance,\u201d and was given permission to do so by his family.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of replacing Reczek outright, CD Projekt Red worked with <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:2;pos:1\" class=\"no-affiliate-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.respeecher.com\/\" data-original-link=\"https:\/\/www.respeecher.com\/\">Respeecher<\/a>, the Ukraine-based voice tech company known for deaging Mark Hamill\u2019s voice in <em>The Mandalorian <\/em>and<em> The Book of Boba Fett<\/em> to create a young Luke Skywalker. Another actor was hired to speak the new lines, and Respeecher\u2019s software reworked them into Reczek\u2019s voice, CD Projekt localization director Miko\u0142aj Szwed told <em>Bloomberg. <\/em>Reczek, who Szwed described as \u201cone of the best Polish voice talents,\u201d had also voiced major roles in The Witcher series.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"end-legacy-contents\" \/><\/p>\n<p>AI has become a contentious topic in the entertainment industry, and striking Hollywood actors are currently fighting for more protections around the use of their likenesses, among other things. In September, SAG-AFTRA <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:3;pos:1\" class=\"no-affiliate-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/article\/sag-aftra-video-game-strike-authorization-explained.html\" data-original-link=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/article\/sag-aftra-video-game-strike-authorization-explained.html\">voted in favor<\/a> of a strike authorization for video game actors, too, whose jobs could be threatened by studios\u2019 increasing reliance on AI. Zelda Williams \u2014 Robin Williams\u2019 daughter \u2014 recently slammed the practice of emulating deceased <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:4;pos:1\" class=\"no-affiliate-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/tom-hanks-calls-out-dental-ad-for-using-ai-likeness-of-him-161548459.html\" data-original-link=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/tom-hanks-calls-out-dental-ad-for-using-ai-likeness-of-him-161548459.html\">actors using AI<\/a>, saying that they cannot consent.
