The streaming giant has, strangely, decided to open a number of brick-and-mortar retail locations, called Netflix House, <a data-i13n=\"cpos:1;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-10-12\/netflix-to-open-stores-where-fans-can-play-shop-and-eat-in-2025?cmpid%3D=socialflow-twitter-tech&amp;leadSource=uverify%20wall&amp;sref=10lNAhZ9#xj4y7vzkg\"><ins>as originally reported by <\/ins><em><ins>Bloomberg.<\/ins><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The stores will sell merchandise based on hit Netflix shows, so you can finally snag that <em>Lincoln Lawyer<\/em> coffee mug you\u2019ve always dreamed of. Netflix House establishments will also offer dining and curated live experiences. To the latter point, the two initial locations are going to feature an obstacle course based on <em>Squid Game<\/em>. This seems to miss the point of the show\u2019s brutal satire of modern capitalism, but that\u2019s been <a data-i13n=\"cpos:2;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/netflixs-squid-game-reality-competition-show-debuts-this-november-204334075.html\"><ins>par for the course<\/ins><\/a> since it <a data-i13n=\"cpos:3;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/netflixs-squid-game-reality-competition-show-debuts-this-november-204334075.html\"><ins>took the world by storm<\/ins><\/a> back in 2021.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"end-legacy-contents\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Netflix House will also boast rotating art installations based on hit shows and live performances to excite fans. Additionally, the in-house restaurant will serve cuisine and drinks originally featured on the streamer\u2019s many unscripted food-based reality shows. The menu will range from fast casual to high-end dining.<\/p>\n<p>The first two locations should open up in the US some time in 2025, though Netflix hasn\u2019t said where, with more global outlets to come at a later date. Why the big global push? Josh Simon, the company\u2019s vice president of consumer products, told <em>Bloomberg<\/em> that its customers \u201clove to immerse themselves in the world of our movies and TV shows, and we\u2019ve been thinking a lot about how we take that to the next level.\u201d Want to really take things to the next level? Let us play real-world versions of <em>The Circle<\/em> and <em>Is It Cake?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Of course, this isn\u2019t Netflix\u2019s first stab at brick-and-mortar nirvana. In the past, it\u2019s opened a number of pop-up experiences throughout the world to <a data-i13n=\"cpos:4;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/stranger-things-drive-into-experiencce-054937764.html\"><ins>celebrate shows like<\/ins><\/a> <em>Stranger Things<\/em> and its spate of cooking reality programming. Netflix House, on the other hand, will celebrate the streamer\u2019s entire stable of content, though we doubt there will be any live experiences based on <em>Real Rob, Flaked<\/em> or <em>The Ranch<\/em> anytime soon. We wouldn\u2019t mind, though, snagging some sweet <em>Bojack Horseman<\/em> merch.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s still finalizing details regarding menus, locations and just about everything else.
