(credit: Unity)<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<div><a name=\"page-1\" \/><\/div>\n<p>John Riccitiello, CEO of Unity, the company whose 3D game engine had recently <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/gaming\/2023\/09\/game-developers-unite-against-unitys-new-per-install-pricing-structure\/\">seen backlash from developers<\/a> over proposed fee structures, will retire as CEO, president, and board chairman at the company, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20231009494331\/en\/Unity-Announces-Leadership-Transition\">a press release<\/a> issued late on a Monday afternoon, one many observe as a holiday.<\/p>\n<p>Riccitiello &#8220;will continue to advise Unity to ensure a smooth transition,&#8221; the company stated, as it seeks to find a permanent CEO. James M.
