The filters are being renamed to make it clearer which ones rely on generative AI to further assist with labeling. Moving forward, these filters will have \u201cAI\u201d in the name somewhere.<\/p>\n<p>The new labels aren\u2019t exclusive to TikTok-approved filters. You can slap the label on any content that\u2019s been completely generated or significantly edited by AI, no matter where the content has been sourced from. Disney+ could have used these tools back when <a data-i13n=\"cpos:3;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/23767640\/ai-mcu-secret-invasion-opening-credits\"><em><ins>Secret Invasion<\/ins><\/em><ins> premiered.<\/ins><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"end-legacy-contents\" \/><\/p>\n<p>TikTok\u2019s new labeling tools aren\u2019t exactly optional. A recent <a data-i13n=\"cpos:4;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/community-guidelines\/en\/integrity-authenticity\/#3\"><ins>company policy clearly states<\/ins><\/a> that any AI-generated content that contains \u201crealistic images, audio or video\u201d must be labeled as such to \u201chelp viewers contextualize\u201d the situation and \u201cprevent the potential spread of misleading content.\u201d However, you can use other disclosures, like stickers or captions, to get the point across without violating any community guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>When you place the onus on consumers to label their content, mistakes are gonna happen. To that end, TikTok\u2019s developing its own algorithm that will label AI-generated posts automatically, though it hasn\u2019t announced when these in-house tools will launch. All of the aforementioned tools were developed in tandem with the company\u2019s safety advisory councils, with assistance from industry and scholastic experts.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the platform has committed itself to abiding by the <a data-i13n=\"cpos:5;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/syntheticmedia.partnershiponai.org\/\">Partnership on AI\u2019s Responsible Practices for Synthetic Media<\/a>, a list of recommendations for increased transparency involving artificial intelligence.
