The event included community display tables, interactive workshops, discussions,<strong> <\/strong>poster sessions, and talks.<\/p>\n<p>For everyone who couldn\u2019t join us in person, we recorded all of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9YLoS1NSC9A\">the talks that community members gave<\/a> on the main stage. Here\u2019s what you can learn from the speakers.<\/p>\n<h2>Running your club<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Jane Waite from our team offered a taste of the research we do and how you can get insights from it to help you run your own coding club. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9YLoS1NSC9A&amp;t=130s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Watch Jane\u2019s talk<\/a> to learn about the research that informs our projects for your club.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Rhodri Smith, who runs a Code Club, shared how you can use assistive technologies to open your club experience to more young people. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9YLoS1NSC9A&amp;t=3332s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Watch Rhodri\u2019s talk<\/a> for some fantastic tips on how assistive technology can make Code Club accessible to children of all ages and abilities.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-blog-entry\"><img engaging Dojo participants. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9YLoS1NSC9A&amp;t=21305s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Watch Dave\u2019s talk<\/strong><\/a><strong> for tips on how to create your own coding projects for young people.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Tim Duffey, who is part of the West Sound CoderDojo, shared how his Dojo ran successful online sessions during the coronavirus pandemic. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9YLoS1NSC9A&amp;t=5172s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Watch Tim\u2019s talk<\/strong><\/a><strong> for great advice on how to run successful coding clubs for young people online.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Steph Burton from our team presented new resources we\u2019re working on to help clubs recruit and train volunteers. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9YLoS1NSC9A&amp;t=19637s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Watch Steph\u2019s talk<\/strong><\/a><strong> for tips on how to recruit new volunteers for your coding club.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Engaging young people in your club<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Sophie Hudson, who runs a Code Club in rural Yorkshire, told us how her school\u2019s Code Club turned taking part in Astro Pi Mission Zero into a cross-curricular activity, and how she partnered older learners with younger ones for peer mentoring that engaged new learners in coding. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9YLoS1NSC9A&amp;t=7015s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Watch Sophie\u2019s talk<\/strong><\/a><strong> to learn how you can get your school involved in <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/astro-pi.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Astro Pi<\/strong><\/a><strong>, especially if you from our team shared how you can motivate and inspire your coders by supporting them to share their projects in the <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Coolest Projects<\/a> showcase \u2014 even their very first Scratch animation. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9YLoS1NSC9A&amp;t=10836s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Watch Helen\u2019s talk<\/strong><\/a><strong> if you\u2019re looking for something new for your club.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The benefits of Code Club and CoderDojo for your community<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Fiona Lindsay, who leads a Code Club, presented her insights into the skills beyond coding that young people learn at Code Club, and she shared some wonderful videos of her coders talking about their experience. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9YLoS1NSC9A&amp;t=1580s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Watch Fiona\u2019s talk<\/strong><\/a><strong> to hear young girls talk about how to get more girls into coding, and for evidence of why every school should have a Code Club.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"448\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Last year, Fiona\u2019s Code Club held a special event to celebrate the tenth birthday of Code Club.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Bruce Harms, who is involved in AruCoderDojo, shared how he and his team are making the CoderDojo model part of their wider work to bring digital skills and infrastructure to Aruba. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9YLoS1NSC9A&amp;t=23182s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Watch Bruce\u2019s talk<\/strong><\/a><strong> to learn how his team has tailored their coding clubs for their local community.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What is volunteering for CoderDojo and Code Club like?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Marcus Davage, who volunteers at a Code Club, shared his journey as a volunteer translator of our resources, and how he engaged colleagues at his workplace in also supporting translations to make coding skills available to more young people speak more than one language.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>To end the day, we hosted a group of community members onstage to have a chat about their journeys with CoderDojo and Code Club, what they\u2019ve
